I was being overly optimistic on purpose thinking it might stir it up a bit, but the point is we have a very easy schedule the rest of the way and I think some of the teams ahead of us will have a much harder go at it. To me the improvement of Landry and Scola and the benching of James have spurred this improvement, along with an easing of the schedule.
Seriously, these threads used to be interesting to me 5 or 6 years ago, until I realized that with any team, it never works out quite as you expect (San Antonio losing to Seattle than coming back to beat Phoenix). But especially with the Rockets. If you look at strength of schedule, home vs. road, etc., blah, blah, the only fair thing to say is that the Rockets have played one of the hardest schedules in the league to date, while a lot of the teams they're chasing have had easier times. http://teamrankings.com/nba/27powerratings.php3 No idea what kind of formula they use, but the above is an example. Of course, SOS is kind of tough to do mid-season. For example, I imagine one of the reasons Phoenix and Boston have had such an easy SOS thus far into the season is because they've won so many of their games, meaning their opponents have lost those games. Still, it is helpful. Game by game predictions are kind of pointless.
If the Rockets go 13-0 or 12-1 in February (which is very possible), then they will be at least 37-21 going into March. The rockets only need to get 13 wins out of last 24 games to make a 50 wins season. Not too hard to do. Also, why people think we will lose to the Hornets? Yeah, the Hornets have Chris Paul and their starting 5 are playing well. But we have Adelman and T-mac is back and healthy. The Rockets almost pulled out a win on the Hornets even without T-Mac. Just do the math.
Two words about that home record....THEY'RE DUE! Ok my thinking for today is over. All you statisticians out there know how infallible that argument is, I don't need to say anything else. But I will...if the Giants did it anything can happen!
My feeling exactly; I haven't seen much so far. They run in mud, no snap in their game. The highlight of the year so far for me was Landry's performance the other night. I loved it. That was exciting. They followed it up with a Chunkathon, where TMac throws up a 100 shots, misses most of them, but scores big. Not exciting.
I prefer to take it week by week, looking at the schedule. But comparing the first half to the second you have to feel optimistic. From my point of view you can't look a the schedule and say "well, we'll win this one but lose that one". The point is that we can beat teams we should lose too and lose to teams we should beat. That's why season's feel like a big roller coaster ride. As far as this season, it's had more ups and downs and twists and turns than any other season that I can remember. But If your a Rockets Fan always "Believe"!!
Utah, NO, SA, PHE, Dallas, and LAL are in the playoffs. DENVER, GS, and Rockets have to fight for the last 2. So even get into the playoffs you would face the number 1 or number 2 seed = another first round byebye sry tmac I feel you
We play like crap against the bad teams, but for some reason show up to play against good teams and come out with W's. However, 19-1 at home the rest of the way in my opinion is not going to happen. At best we will go 16-4 or 17-3. And, yes, all those games are winnable, but then again so are games against Philly(twice), which did not happen. So I say we will finish the season with a realistic prediction by saying ... 24-10... yea i know its almost the same, but we're just not a good team when it comes to playing at home and are better on the road... but if we make the playoffs that will benefit us seeing that we will not have homecourt. I like the optimism though and hopefully we can go undefeated. LOL
So basically we cant beat Pho NO GSW or Dal? wtf so whats the point in mkaing the playoffs if you dont think we can beat any of the top teams? lol this is crazy... 50 wins i think is realstic though..but give us some more credit..
Tmac's first year the Rockets were 26-21 at the exact same point in the schedule and ended up winning 51 games. Why do you guys think that can't happen again? The proof is in the hot dog. DD
The Rox is the only team in the league where playing homecourt doesnt' count as having "home court advantage". Plus, with Laker's new upgrade at PF...I don't see us beating them any time soon.
If you're looking for a reason to be optimistic about this team conscider the fact that they have won 15 games on the road. That's tied for fifth most in the entire NBA. Also consider that they have played about 15 games without one of the best players in the entire league. They also have developing stars in Landry and Scola. Last but not least, they have finally gotten a grasp of Adelman's coaching style, and it seems like Adelman is getting a sense fo the players he has.. The best is yet to come from this team and there is alot of reason for optimism.
