Swift has a long way to go defensively. Under JVG's coaching, that means he's not going to start until he learns how to play disciplined defense.

Howard played okay defense and his rebounding is underrated. I am not worried about his shooting.

mac.c, Howard is not great in anything. But he's solid in everything. We don't need a great PF, just a solid all around guy.

Wow we played bad and still finished out strong in this game. Just wait until we start meshing together. It's gonna be scary.

Not everyone is gonna have a good game but it's nice to know that this year we have the depth to carry those who aren't playing well. Something we did not have the luxury of last year.

My glass if half full, how about yours?

    GO ROCKETS!!

i wouldn't be worried about rebounds. yao had 10 and jho had 9. deke allways rebounds well, and swift shows flashes. tmac rebounds well.

last night we seemed to miss sura's long rebounds. that's how bonzi was killing us.

the main point is it was only one game and we beat a good team. we should be happy!

wait..wait..we won? I would have never known

I dont think its realistic for the first game of the season to expect everyone to be on at the same time. Thats why its a TEAM game. When someone is having an off nite (btw, this does happen) someone else steps up, tonite Barry stepped his game up. Other nites, it will be our PF's that save the game while the others are having off nites. I can understand the bashing had this been 1, 2 months into the season, but cmon. Lets be happy we have depth as a team now, and can still win games when our players arent on.

Facts are facts: Our PF's didnt play as well as we hoped.
    Bigger fact: We won.

 Ok, you got me going. Just kidding, but...

First he had six offensive rebounds last night and he plays very well in JVG's defensive system.

Secondly Howard shoots very well in-space and that's critical with the crowd Yao draws. Oh, and by the way a career 17 point scorer is not average and neither is his shooting %.

Thirdly Howard is a JVG guy. He's smart, he hustles, he's (almost always) efficient and while he's boarding he's not going anywhere.

Lastly he's the perfect guy for Stro to watch and mentor, and Stro fans if last night is any indication he'll be doing a lot of that for awhile.

This month is going to be tough for this team, last night wasn't even a speed bump.

i was there, i dont mind howard, but he got on my nerves last night, your 0-8 pass the ball, he had no intention on passing, i wanted to see swift and yao play together more, maybe next game. cant wait till stro gets comfortable with the system and starts, howard and wesly and barry could be a cool combo off the bench

I saw Howard getting good position and shots on the basket, they just weren't going in for him last night. It seemed like everyone of his shots hit the front or side of the rim.

I thought Swift was too excited, and could never settle down thru the whole game, but also it looked like he was just unfamiliar with the whole system - never could get into a groove witht the rest of the team.

Stro doesn't "get it" and I don't think he will. He's a career under achiever and most likely always be. Put Weatherspoons brain in Stro's body...then we'd have a PF that could dominate. Don't look for Swift to start all year unless Howard gets injured!

Thank god we didn't lose. People just love to hate right? Looks like rockets are gonna have to blow everyone by at least 25 points for our fans to be happy. Even then I'm sure someone would still find a reason to be unhappy. Oh well C'est la vie (sp)
