Well, a lot of fans of baseball care how the Yankees pay for their players. If the D-Backs had an extra $40 million to spend they wouldn't be rolling out Kim, Morgan, and Swindell as their bullpen.

Well the Astros have 20 million less than the Dbacks and they roll out Wags, Dotel, Williams and Jackson

the extra 40 (actually 30 million) didnt help the Dodgers or Redsox.

I would love to see eome sort of revenue sharing, but I am not going to let the fact that MLB doesnt have it yet, ruin the WOrld Series for me.

Well the Astros have some great players who don't make any money. Berkman, Oswalt, Wade Miller, and even Dotel. They won't be able to stay at $60 million for long when that talent matures and that's where the teams like the Yankees can keep all of their players while the Astros are going to be losing it. People talk about the homegrown Yankees talent but they can afford to keep it all unlike most teams.

The point is that when a team like the DBacks has things fall in line for them and they reach the World Series, they're playing a team that can afford to fill out their team with quality depth. When it comes time to battle bullpens the Yankees bring out aces like Rivera, Stanton, and Mendoza while the DBacks bring out comparatively inferior players. The Yankees got shut down by the DBacks frontline players but in the late innings the DBacks can't match the quality depth in the bullpen.

I've been a baseball fan for years and it used to be my favorite sports. Nothing beat baseball. It makes me sick to see how far it has sunk. There is a reason that its popularity has dropped, and a few pops in the T.V. ratings here and there don't change that. Baseball is a big market game now. The only teams who win are big market teams with bundles of money, or a team that overspends for a season or two. After that NOBODY has a legit chance to win a championship. Oakland stumbled into a gold mine, now there is a strong chance they can lose Giambi to the Yankees, destroying ANOTHER small market contender and strengthning another big market team. I used to be excited about trades in the offseason, now all we hear are rumors involving the Yankees, and Dodgers, and Braves. The left overs go to the small market, and even then that isn't always the case. I don't even bother with trade line deals, which used to be awesome. Now we know the Yankees will suck up all of the talent, and Atlanta when they feel like it. Even Astacio, who is considered "lower tier" in terms of big name value was almost swallowed up by the Yankees! How exciting is baseball when you go into the season knowing that the Yankees, and a team that spent big bucks are the only contenders? And how does it feel when the big names are available at the deadline and offseason and only 4 or 5 teams have a legit chance at them? I'm just burned out of baseball, I'm sick of watching it kill itself. In order to allow the big markets to keep spending and spending, they're going to close down small market teams like Minnesota, which has a ton of tradition, Montreal, maybe even Tampa Bay, and Florida. Just to support big market teams. Baseball is killing itself. It's NBA and college B-ball and football for me until baseball gets an even playing field. Look at the parity in the NFL and NBA, the only reason the Lakers are dominant is because Shaq is a freak of nature, not money.

You dont like MLB because it is to skewed towards "big market teams" yet you like NCAA football? ROTFLMAO!

Yeah the BCS isn't about "big market teams!" There is an excellent chance for a school out of the WAC, CUSA, MWC, etc... from getting a chance to play in a BCS bowl. The BCS conferences horde all the tv money and INVENT rules to keep the smaller teams down. At least baseball hasnt invented rules that make it harder on the small market teams.

I love NCAA football, but they are a LOT more Pro Big Market anit small market than baseball is.

look i understand baseball isnt the only sport with issues, but take off the rose colored glasses, the sport is a business, if owners lose money they will do means to make it up, ie cut payroll

Just wait till the A's, and Marlins hold firesales-these are two teams with potential through the roof if you can honestly say the sport is fine then maybe you arent looking at the situation carefully. Like i said give those teams 100 mil payrolls and enormous tv deals and guess what-youre really talking a damn good dynasty possibly, because their talent would eat the yankees for lunch-brosius,tino,knoblauch are not excellent players merely decent.

As for NCAA football, im a proponent of a playoff because its sick that one loss can ruin your entire season so im not hypocritical on the argument

Anyway, dbacks in 7, yanks CANT HIT RJ or Schilling(Bats are too slow-batista same things)

if ny wins they might as well send a christmas card to bob brenly, because they DONT DESERVE to even be going back to arizona.

"They dont even deserve to be going back to Arizona"? Why not may I ask? A baseball game last time I checked is 9 innings long not 8 2/3. The Diamondbacks were a better team for 8 2/3 of an inning, but the Yankees have been better for 9 freakin innings!

    GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!

    rocks03,

give me a break BK is NASTY all season has you down to your final out and just somehow sucky old brosius and avg tino find ways to get homers, i call that extreme luck, the yankees have been outplayed this series and quite frankly it should be over, im sorry if the truth hurts but getting 2 game winning homers off of a reliever like kim is incomprehensible and nearly impossible to do(highly improbable), once maybe, twice i dont think so. Plus no reason he should pitch after 3 innings the night before; tired arm so thank bob brenly for the gift

Why dont you give me a break. Maybe the truth hurts YOU. Because the truth is that the YANKEES ARE UP 3 GAMES TO 2. I am perfectly okay with the truth. It is you who is trying to manipulate the truth to fit your nees. You make me laugh at your argument. On one hand you are claiming the Yankees have all the talent in the world and that is why no one can beat em. Then you go around and claiming how "sucky old brosius and avg tino" find ways to win game? Well are they winning cause of a high payroll or are they lucky? Gee let me guess your answer? BOTH rite  If the Yankees had been outplayed this series they would be down and out, but guess what the truth is? THEY ARE UP 3-2!!! Thank Brenly for what? Is it my fault they dont have a good bull pen besides Kim? Brenly had no choice! Batista pitched an awesome game and D-Backs are the ones that are lucky to get something out of like that from Batista.

It is sickening how some people like you are so entrenched in your hate for a team, that you cant even recognize the accomplishments of a team. BOO HOO they Yankees are lucky! BOO HOO they Yankees have the highest pay roll. BOO HOO for the sake of BOO HOOOING!

I am perfectly fine with the truth baby yeaaaahhhh!!!!

    YANKEES UP 3-2!!!!!!! GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!

they do buy their rings, but strangely enough steinbrenner has limits of his own, they dont have comparable talent to teams like the A's-but look should a 110 mil payroll be allowed to the sign another ace fa pitcher at 15 mil per, when some teams entire payroll is that much

The truth i see is the yankees cant hit power pitching and if brenly doesnt make another dum decisions i can easily see them going down in 7, but honestly it should be 3-2 or over in arizonas favor right now, kim is very difficult to hit and throws super hard-fitting into the yankees weakness

I take the truth as who has played better overall, quite frankly its been arizona, but theyve lost 2 games they should have won

Well they lost didnt they? And as far as I know thats the deciding factor in sports.

If you are asking me if baseball is fair, then of course I have repeatedly said NO. They do need a cap and if not that then some form of revenue sharing.

    Excellent post DVauthrin

But it's also takinig advantage of situations.

The Yankees are masters at that. It's called being clutch.

I agree that Zona has played quite well. In fact in another thread I did praise Schilling on two great games.

You see? you can root for a team and appreciate someone else's ability.

And I understand that the Yanks still have to get through Johnson or/and Schilling.

This is by no means over.

If it goes to 7 games, all bets are out the window.

    But!

As I said in another thread, if the Yanks lose game one, it will be the Yanks in six.

My prediction still has a chance.

Give me a freakin' break MC

You realize how dumb this **** sounds? Yeah you're right, let all the teams who have budget-concious owners sell their teams to owners who are free spenders... ridiculous....

This is the reason why baseball is a joke these days. (see Florida Marlins). There isnt a cap and there is no way to have an even level of play.
