I give Duncan a pass, since he's obviously not himself. An ankle not giving you normal lift/motion really hampers you from getting into any kind of rhythm on O. Ginobili played alright but may need to have much bigger games since SG is just about the only real mismatch the Spurs have. The big big big deal is Parker. He could not have been more out played by Miller. Turnovers, points, etc, it was just a horror show. He's still got a terrible problem with his consistency. He killed the Spurs in the second half last year's Lakers series, and if he doesn't show up in this one, they're in big trouble. Popovich is probably still in the midst of beating him like Russian mafia right now. Evan
I did like seeing Charles and Kenny piling on Tony Parker for showing up at the game with Eva Longoria. As if that was the reason for his struggles.
One other thing.....how the hell do Parker and Ginobli get away with travelling every frickin game?? These two take 3-4-5 steps to the basket on more than half of their drives!!!
Not to mention the blatant carrying that Ginobili always gets away with. Is that supposed to be a crossover?
True that! I hate the Spurs. Their players, mainly Ginobili, Parker, and Bowen get on my nerves so bad. I'll always think of '99 as an asterisk year. It's so r****ded when people compare Robinson to Hakeem because they both got 2 titles. Puhhhlease! Hakeem carried his team to both titles and was the best player in the league at the time. Robinson jumped on Duncan's back when he was way past his prime, and we had Quitten screwing up our chances to stop the Spurs the other year.
We may rot in hell but you'll still be in Houston! Also, whats all this business about "Spurs fans" thinking Duncan is better than Hakeem?! Thats a pretty broad generalization, Spurs where pieces of **** in the Hakeem heyday. That is past, this is present. S.A. has won 2 championships and thus, love their team through thick and thin and even crappy seasons (sound familar Houston..er?) Duncans a damn good player but I've never ran into anyone that thinks he is better than Hakeem. Where'd you get that from!? Also, unfortunately S.A. has had a pretty bad end of season with injuries and what not, whereas Rockets are just peaking at the right time. And so it goes..........
we know how capable Denver is of getting blown out. they can look great one night and like a college team the next. but the hope that they can put it together and knock off the spurs while Duncan is hobbling a bit is fading fast after watching them tonight.
WTF?? Spurs haven't sucked since, what '87-'88 - other than the injured year (know as the tank around these parts). Spurs were constantly in the hunt w/Houston & Jazz for the Midwest throughout the '90's - and were favorites to win the title w/a 62 win season the year Hakeem took over. They didn't win championships, but they were hardly pieces of **** during Hakeem's heydey - if they were, why the hell would there be any type of rivalry between these two franchises. Now lets hope the two squads rekindle that with a meeting in the WCF here in a few weeks - that would be a hell of a good series/chessmatch - low scoring, hard-nosed long-ass beat the crap out of each other sumbitch.
WTF? Spurs were constantly punked by Clutch City Rockets throughout the 90's, thats WTF! Rockets with Hakeem won back to back... Spurs got everyones hopes up then let everyone in S.A. down year after year, cmon all my S.A. friends will tell you that. WTF?
i dont get the scheduling of these games the rockets have their game 4 i think on the same day as the spurs having their game 3. is the nba trying to do something where they space out the games of the spurs series to help duncan and his rehabbing process? i know its a wild theory and all but i mean there are two series that still have to play a game 3, sa/nugz and wiz/bulls and its really up to stern and his pals at the beginning to decide the schedule and it would be more profitable for him to see a spurs series against either the suns/heat/pistons
I was thinking the same thing today as well. To have 2 days off between each of their first 3 games is ludicrous, especially after Stern said he wanted to avoid stretching the offseason like last year. Looks a little iffy.
It's better than the 4-5 days that the Wolves had off between games in our first round series last year.
