I feel truly privileged to have watched the two greatest guards in basketball history through the primes of their careers.
lol, vujacic rubbing it in i guess for some reason. shouldn't have taken it, but it's the spurs so i forgive him. man the lakers take out the western conference with a 12-3 record? they get the only sweep of the first round, beat the jazz in utah and took another game in utah to OT, and then beat the spurs in SA, snapping a 13 game home winning streak in the playoffs, and finish the spurs off in 5? watching them all season, even if i thought they would win the west i would've never said it would be this impressive. and kobe has been every bit the MVP so far this postseason. it's his consistency more than anything. his worst game might be game 1 against denver when he was 9-26, and even then he had 32. he's been up around 30 almost every game, had 5-7 assists and rebounds in most every game (averaging 31/6/6), has shot 50+% in 10 or 11 of the 15 games and if he didn't take that last forced shot in game 4, he would've shot 50% or better in every game against the spurs defense, with essentially no fouls being called for him. i've never seen him at this level for this long and this consistently. he has been by far the best player on a team that took out one of the best conferences ever 12-3 and just had a huge 4th quarter in closing out the west.
And with that, I think we can officially end all the Kobe vs. Tmac debates. Any one still claiming Tmac is same or better than Kobe is just as moronic as a Spurs fan claiming David Robinson was as good as Hakeem Olajuwon.
Not only that but most Casion's had the line at 7.5 so with that shot he cost a lot of people butt load of money. There might be a good number of people looking to beat him up. The Line was perfect until he took that shot.
I said back when the West was still a close horserace that the Lakers were the best team followed by the Spurs. I didn't think they needed Bynum to make the Finals. Back at the end of March, I saw them lose home games to the 2 worst road teams in the NBA, Charlotte & Memphis, and then follow that up with a razor-close win over the Wizards. Their chemistry was awful and I had serious doubts. But they found themselves in time and the best team won the West. I highly resent that the Pau giveaway gave the Western Conference to the Lakers, but what's done is done. Unless injuries creep in, the Lakers should convincingly beat either Detroit or Boston. I will root for Boston to beat them or for the Pistons to lose in the Finals.
just think about how derek fish and kobe bryant are the only 2 players remaining since the last time lakers have been to the championships (2004). its crazy how the lakers rebuilt so quickly in 4 years, their whole team was replaced except 2 players.
