are the spurs going to win this like game 7 against the hornets by just hitting all of their jumpers while the other team misses all of their open jumpers? and maybe fisher shouldn't force up a 20 footer after just missing 2 straight open jumpers.
i am shocked that gasol drove and got hacked by ginobili and no foul was called. pau has been getting all the calls this series. edit: oh ****ing please, pau gasol called for an offensive foul? so it's not enough he can't buy a call but now he's getting called for flops by guys bigger than him? gasol has missed about 5 chip shots, finley and manu have hit contested 3's, duncan and parker have hit jumpers. perfect quarter for the spurs. lets see if the lakers are just going to not come to play today and let this go 7 (b/c they aren't winning game 6 in SA).
Just like I figured- Spurs go on the early run, Lakers are tight, Lakers will slowly creep back into it- not even worried. Lakers will start running more in Q2 and Q3 to get baskets in transition. It'll be the toughest game for the Lakers to win so far, but they'll get it done.
the lakers shooting a free throw after only 13 game minutes? i guess the league might need to issue another apology to the spurs. if kurt thomas flops, offensive foul, if you flop against him, play on.
they have to come back from 17 points and can't shoot straight (3 points in 9 minutes). i would think there should be some worry.
this is the rasheed wallace proclaimed wwf stern led refs in full charge! Timmy caught one pass down in the post. did a double hop with first one foot and then the other to get closer to the hoop (traveling anyone?) THEN he picked the ball up and dribbled in for one of his patented post shots. But of course, no call on the double hop. Stern wants at least 6 games, if not 7.
Manu 'I'm better than Tracy McGrady' Ginobili seems to be really frustrated with his play lately. He sure let Vujacic know about it.
Not surprised the Spurs roared out to a lead, though 17 points is more than anyone could predict. The question is if they can keep it up and win the game. The Lakers have to show some maturity and play like they want it to end tonight. So far, it looks like they are still enjoying the win on Tuesday.
Nope. Lakers can score in bunches if they need to. Plus, Lakers can certainly win a game 6 in San Antonio- not easy, but definitely can be done. If they can win in Utah, and they've already won in San Antonio, they can do it again. Lakers will win. However, there's always one word you have to slip into the equation. Unless... Because trying to predict games is futile What if Odom gets injured? What if Kobe goes completely, unbelievably cold? What if San Antonio shoots 95+% from the free throw line? I've watched too many playoff games over the last 18 years- I've seen every type of scenario- and I can tell you- this Lakers team can definitely erase this deficit quickly. Unless...
6 point wipe-out just like that- and Kobe, Odom, and Gasol are on the bench. As much as Phil Jackson's arrogance gets to me, one of the things I like about him is that he does let his bench work out its problems on the court and he trusts them. Going back to game 6 against the Blazers in the 1992 NBA Finals, they made that 15-point comeback with Jordan on the bench- guys like Bobby Hansen brought the Bulls back and pretty much got them the win.
do the lakers have any intention of ever guarding brent barry? 23 points in game 4, 4 wide open 3's already in this game. of anybody, don't leave him open.
the problem is i've seen too many of these "defense, what's defense?" type games from the lakers this season. the open barry 3's, duncan scoring at will. they have these lapses and don't tend to come out of them until the next game. lets hope the playoffs will speed the waking up process.
Every team has had lapses like that. The Lakers have been arguably the best team in the playoffs so far- now, there's definitely a chance they can lose this and game 6- who knows, maybe even game 7. But most of those teams that lost after being up 3-1 were poor defensive teams (1995 Suns, 200x Orlando Magic,etc.). I can't see the Lakers losing 3 in a row to the Spurs. Unless...
well they weren't playing crappy defense in game 1, just horrible offense (they only had 45 in the middle of the 3rd). they seem to turn their offense around better than their defense. but i guess we'll see. edit: although i guess this is about on pace for 65-45 in the middle of the 3rd, just seems different than game 1. kurt thomas gets more ref respect than the whole lakers team combined.
Whoa! Talk about a lighting strike! Lakers down by 6 at halftime. If the Spurs don't run out of gas, I think we are in for a tense game down to the wire.
Not a bad half all things considered- only 4 turnovers, which bodes well for the 2nd half. Just a low shooting percentage (37%) and Bryant got a long rest. He can play the rest of the way, if need be. Kobe's got to get away from that tendency to hit the knockout blows late in the game, primarily his 3-point attempts. Drive, drive, and drive. I think Odom and Bryant are the keys. I think this is all too new for Gasol and he'll be more likely to choke in the 4th. They need to get Odom going
wow what a horrible start. stuipd foul, easy shot for duncan, bad TO, fisher with horrible rotation for an open parker jumper, odom not catching a pass for another TO.
Yeah remember when we played Thomas earlier this year and he flopped really well on our big men and got ridiculous ref positive treatment? wasn't it Thomas who pulled Battier down on top of himself by the jersey and got the call too?
