Actually, I said the same thing during the game. "Hmmmm....who has a history of making clutch shots to win playoff games. Wait, I know! It's Big Shot Rob! Let's have him inbound the ball and never touch it again!"
I've seen this again too many times. note Horry IMMEDIATELY raising his hand cause he's open, then he has both hands out near his numbers for the pass, his left foot planted close to the 3 point line. BRENT BARRY IS AN IDIOT
you must mean THOU MUST NOT SAY THIS!!!! sayeth the mouth of STERN from Mt Zion!!! as opposed to "you can NOT say this" (as a logically supported statement) let's me break it down for you since it's so difficult. simple arithmetic dictates that 91 + 1+1+1=94 94 > 93. you win games where you score more ergo that non call = refs "won dis" for LA I was LMAO when charles barkley is like I'm glad the ref didn't call it because I dont like it when the refs "decide the game." erm... ever occur to you that NON CALLs of a clear violation to favor of one team is exactly the same thing as making a call "deciding the game." what possible difference does it make whether it's a blown call or a blown non-call that the refs use to give the game to a particular team what difference does it make what calls where made earlier, made in previous games, previous series, or in 1900? we're talking about a specific clear instance of the refs deciding the game. unless you can show how that was not actually a foul in accordance of the rules all that other crap is irrelevant... otherwise you're basically saying you're okay with the refs and stern deciding the outcome of games (for whatever reason). in other words because some guy fouled some other guy who fouled some other guy at some point, you're okay with the officials taking the outcome of the game out of the players' hands and deciding on their own using their own criteria. nice fan
The refs have been calling only about half of the fouls during all the playoffs, including many obvious hard fouls, and now we are pissing and whining relentlessly about one play where the SAN ANTONIO SPURS may have been denied? Give me a massive break. The floppers, you talkin about the floppers? It is finally their turn.
one bad/incompetent/inconsistent/not-make-sense-at-all call is not the reason for the other. hope you get this basic logic. thought it was common sense. and floppers? what floppers? are you talking about manu or are you talking about fisher? only one of these 2 floppers was involved in the last play.
The "Non Call" is history. The real question: are the Spurs toast? I picked them to win the series, but that now seems very unlikely. They are gritty, but probably not able to beat the Lakers three in a row. What do you think?
No, you can't. From 3 Lakers Fisher/Odom/Sasha in foul trouble all night long. TD took 5 steps without dribble to the rim. To Kobe taking 29 shots without a FT. Actually 6 FT in 4 games while TD took 11 in this one. I don't mind getting a list of questionable calls and check who benefits more in this game. The point is, should refs have got previous one right, Spurs would be down 4 with 5 seconds left, and no miracle can save their ass. One bad call deserved another, that's how I see it. Plus, Barry took a dribble after the pump fake, there's no way that would be a shooting foul.
This series has shown me one thing though. Tim Duncan, IMO, is the greatest PF ever to lace them up. But when it comes to comparing him with the top 5 (Wlit, Russell, Kareem, Hakeem, Shaq)...he just doesn't cut it. Hakeem would literally put up 40 a game on Gasol. Duncan is damn good at everything, but he just doesn't seem to be able to be a dude that is going to throw up big scoring numbers on you....the type to put up 30 a night for the entire postseason.
i think there are better scoring PFs than duncan (malone, barkley for instance), but what makes duncan the best PF ever is his defense. even right now, he's still anchoring one of the top 2-3 defenses in the L and has done so for the past decade. but barkley or malone would bust 40 on gasol EASY.
I think that if they win 3 in a row, it might be the biggest story of the season, after The Streak. Damn, that's hard to do!
I agree, that would be history making. Kobe might want out of LA again. Has any NBA team ever lost a series after being up 3-1?
i don't know who actually benefitted more from the silly officiating; and i don't really care too much if it doesn't involve the rockets. but to assume kobe DESERVES certain amount of ft's is ridiculous. play-by-play is the only way to determine that; and even that is hindsight. also, a ft disparity, be it b/w individual star players or the teams, does NOT necessarily mean the reffing was bad. other factors have to be taken into accounts, too. no one is saying it was a shooting foul. but the lakers were over the foul limit. thus should've been a 2-shot foul.
agreed. even td is just now starting to show a little bit of decline, he's still the anchor of the whole spurs team. on gasol, so maybe it wasn't such a big deal. i mean the acquisition of him sure helped the lakers a great deal in the regular season, but in playoffs against top western teams, gasol's effectiveness just shrinks. let's see how it works out when bynum comes back. i'm sure the lakers will be in contention for the next few years with the current core, but it may not be as great as some have depicted. not as great as the 3-peat lakers for sho.
Are you serious?? How about 94-95? Phoenix Suns were up on Rockets 3-1. They blew away the Rockets in first two games in Phoenix. Rockets won big in the 3rd game which was on a Saturday. The next game was Sunday, with no rest in between. Rockets lost a close one. Suns went up 3-1 in the series. Game 5 was in Phoenix and Suns were supposed to close out the Rockets, especially since Clyde was half dead with the flu. Hakeem forced an overtime with a game tying shot. Wesley Person missed on a last second 3 pointer. Horry made some big shots in overtime. Game 6 was not even close. Rockets won big setting up a game 7. Game 7 saw Rockets down early with Hakeem in foul trouble. They closed in before half time with help of Elie and Drexler. They went down once again in second half but Sam Cassell kept them close until Hakeem returned to close out the game. Kevin Johnson had a big game but missed a FT (first miss of the game) to set up a tie game with seconds left to go and Rockets with teh ball... Kenny Smith took it in his own half, passed to Horry, who threw a cross court pass from half line to Mario Elie parked in the corner (by the Rockets bench). Once Danny Shayes saw the play develop he left Hakeem wide open at the rim, and ran to Elie. Now, mere mortals would have passed to a wide open Hakeem for an easy dunk and 2 points. But Elie, being the badass he is, shot a 3 pointer. He made it (not that i needed to point it out). And the Kiss of Death was promptly mailed to Joe Kline on the Suns bench. So yeah, someone has come back from 3-1 to win a series. Tmac's Orlando Magic were up 3-1 against Pistons but eventually lost the series. Kobe's Lakers also lost to Suns after being up 3-1 in 2006. I can understand if not many remember these two cases but the 94-95 historic and legendary Houston Rockets championship run?!?! OH COME ON!!!!!! This is the Houston Rockets bbs isn't it? I am going to give you the benefit of doubt and assume you typed this while keeping those Rockets in mind.... Surely what you mean is that only a team as good as that legendary 94-95 Rockets team could pull something that hard. Right? Right?
The Spurs Dynasty is over tonight. They'll make a run, Lakers will be tight, but when the 4th quarter hits, Bryant and Odom will take them home. Lakers 96, Spurs 90
