Laker hater? That comment reminds me of the people in GARM that call you a Tmac hater when you criticize him for something legitimate. Read the post you quoted. I HATE the Spurs. I want the Lakers to win. I want to see if Kobe can pull an MJ and cement his position as one of the great ones (can't stand the guy personally but how can you not love his game/will?) I just think that was a bad no-call. It didn't look like a borderline call (which shouldn't be called at the end of a game). If that happened to us vs. Utah in that situation we would all be going ape*****
exactly. if that happened to us, as a rockets fan, i would probably curse everyone out in my sight right now. but the way the spurs carried themselves was tremendous. i mean, what can you really do? they can't change the call.
I could care less about the Spurs, besides Horry. I just don't like to see games end on BS. I hate seeing how pussified the league is becoming, and don't like that a guy has to sell his foul (basically flop) to get an obvious call. The dude jumped on him. Even Stevie Wonder coulda seen that....
I hate the TNT people's opinion of this, saying he should have jumped into Fisher to sell the foul. If a player does that, they should never get the call.
It's basic NBA 101: If a defender jumps into the air towards the offensive player, all the guy with the ball has to do is jump, initiate contact and an automatic shooting foul is called. It's on the defender not to get faked and leave his feet.
Fahk the Spurs. I was at Doc's on South Congress here in Austin, and half the place was full of Rockets and Mavs fans rooting against Spurs (Manu and Bowen in particular). You can't call a foul 30 feet from the basket to decide the game at that point.
I'm sure f4p has pointed it out a million times already, but that non-call makes up for Odom's phantom goal tend and the shotclock not resetting on Fisher's shot... the Spurs never should have even have had a shot there at the end.
same feeling here. should've been a 2-shot foul. it's not in the act of shooting, but the lakers were out the foul limit. overtime and let the players decide the game in an extra 5 minutes would be the most fair call. oh well...
i don't know about conspiracy, but stupidity and incompetence for sure. fisher's shot might've touched the rim, but that goal-tending by odom (correct call) clearly should've been an and-1. like i said, considering kobe also made a crucial mental mistake in the end by not running down the clock, an ot will be the fair way to settle it.
That's clearly a foul with the ball on the floor. Fisher jumper forward onto Barry and landed his elbow on Barry's shoulder during Barry's dribbling. It's clearly should be a 2 shoot foul call. But NBA refs suck. There are so many bad refs in the league now. So many games determine by bad officiating. I am losing interest in wathcing the games. EC teams are so unwatchable. The refs could call a foul on Scola's inconsequential touch on AK47 but not for an elbow on the shoulder. WTF!
Oh, did I mention I dislike the Lakers more than I do the Spurs? In terms of teams I 'hate', they rank in the following order: 1a) Jazz 1b) Mavs 120) Lakers 200) Spurs Just thought I would throw that out there...
All refs in all sports suck arse. Tell me one major sport that hasn't had its fair share, if not more, of bad officiating. Follow baseball lately? What about the NFL for the last gazillion years? Controversial calls are part of sports. There are, yes, but this particular one was not one of them... Seriously, just stop watching! Problem solved, no?
I was anticipating something like this ending after doing my standard 3rd quarter review: Spurs 15 fouls, Lakers 20 fouls. Spurs with a lot more FT's when this is not a typical Spurs environment - they usually foul more than the opponent ( I know their season stats say slightly less - but I am counting the real fouls on both sides - more for the spurs, less for opponents due to spurs flops). So what do the refs regularly do in this case? They have done their best to throw the game one way for 3q's - in this case for the homre Spurs. Now in the 4q they have to even up the called fouls and really let the chips fall where they may - so this means giving a little more edge to the Lakers in the 4th to make up for 3q's of homer calls. and what did we get? This is almost as easy as calling the outcome of a wwf match.
In terms of players, I am more or less 'OK' with Lakers players, I just have a strong dislike for their organization and their fan base. The Lakers remind me of everything I hate about LA and its people, and their sense of entitlement has always been an issue for me. They're the quintessential NBA 'elitist' franchise, and I have a strong dislike for them.
i know... i'm just going to gloat for a while. Manu's flopping is extremely offensive and I for one hope the spurs go down as painfully as possible.
