what do you know, reach in on walton as he lays it up, no call, duncan travels all over the place no call, kobe drives no call.
after the bench gets through blowing the rest of the lead and the refs make sure SA gets as many ft's as they need, the spurs won't need to turn up the heat. at least phil mentioned the refs. brent barry gets more 40 feet from the basket free throws than kobe has had in 9 quarters now.
If the Spurs don't start rebounding the ball, the refs won't save them. Pop is going to blow a blood vessel. I can't believe what I'm watching.
what is farmar doing there? that was like chris paul's push off on bowen on the break. in neither case was bowen even playing good defense and both guys just shoved him. wtf. way to just blow an opportunity there. the lakers have to stop leaving barry open for 3's. figure something else out besides that. and add robert horry to the list of people with as many ft's in this game (w/o even a shot attempt) as kobe in the last 10 quarters.
since when are the spurs the greatest free throw shooting team ever? duncan and parker act like they're larry bird. edit: **** this bull****. kobe obviously hit on that last jumper and no call. brent barry now with 4 free throws in this game, kobe with 2 since game 1. edit edit: parker gets a foul with farmar backing off the whole way. spurs are winning this. they have the tie, are going to shoot 40+ ft's, and aren't missing any of them.
Kobe- absolute best person in the NBA to give the ball to with the shot clock off. Just a mesmerizing player.
Props to Luke Walton for digging himself out of the garbage can in the 1st half. Quite a turnaround. The 28/14 rebound advantage for the Lakers just blows me away. What is wrong with the Spurs? It's like they relaxed after winning game 3. If the Lakers will stop the stupid fouls and turnovers, they will win this game. I expect Manu to erupt in the 2nd half.
that's the problem. only a 6 point lead and ginobili hasn't done anything. that's why i see the spurs winning.
it's gonna really suck when SA wins this game by 3 or 4 while shooting some ridiculous ft% like 33-35 or something. that's how you steal games. kobe drive with contact, no call, duncan drive, free throws. second verse, same as the first. i'm actually not sure if kobe is allowed to get a foul called on a shot at this point. and on D he has to not help so much and leave bowen open for these 3's. he's not missing.
how long before bruce bowen "accidentally" gouges someone's eyes out pulling the battier move? WTF! why are you doubling off of barry when he's on the same side of the court as duncan? that's just 3 free points. horrible. and then vlad rad airballs a 3. kobe not driving any more b/c he knows it's useless. obvious block/trip on bowen, no call.
just lean into someone and you go to the line if you're the spurs. duncan with as many free throws as the whole laker team. you usually don't see the lakers on the wrong end of one of these type officiating efforts.
why does marv albert call every shot from the wing a "tough-angle shot." he's been calling it that all series. it's just a normal shot and wouldn't seem to be any harder than a baseline shot. that's where a lot of the best guys do their work.
i don't know how long the lakers can go with the bench lineup. gasol isn't even looking to shoot and they don't have odom or fisher b/c of fouls. mother****er stop leaving barry open. he's the only guy hitting, how f'ing hard can it be to not leave him. lakers are just pissing this game away and are going to lose b/c they're stupid and leave the same guy open over and over. and b/c odom and gasol haven't done anything. edit: good job by the lakers to really force that ball into walton and turn it over. he's been so on fire tonight they just had to get it to him for some reason.
I don't understand that one either. In years past, I don't recall him saying that very often. Must be something he picked up recently.
turiaf is not afraid to heave up a 20 footer like it's a game against the clippers in november. edit: kobe thought he was going to get a free throw or something? he's missed 3 in a row now. someone else has to step up. foul on turiaf as he gets knocked to the ground? spurs are going to eke this one out as they always do during their championship runs. good free throws, good D, the other team leaving the only good shooter open, a few key plays and that's how they do it.
I think the Spurs are running out of gas but the Lakers are frittering away a chance to take control of the game.
