how in the world was that a travel on gasol? if that's a travel then there are about 50 travels a night and manu could never make a move to the basket. ridiculous.
i really don't understand how pau gasol gets to the line. what would have to happen for that to happen? edit: so far in this series. kobe bryant and pau gasol combined - 10 ft's. tim duncan - 22 ft's. give me a break.
gasol should get more calls. but kobe hasn't penetrated at all (85% of his shots have been jumpers so far). they've mini-zoned him up pretty well and kobe has been scoring off of his mid-range jumpers.
farmar cuts the lead to 9 with a 3 so turiaf follows with a fine defensive decision to rotate to a covered kurt thomas 20 feet from the basket to leave brent barry wide open for 3. brilliant. 2-1 series. edit: man the odom + the bench lineup has gotten killed both times in this game (start of 2nd and 4th).
he's gone to the basket plenty enough (especially in the game 1 comeback) to have more than 5 ft's so far this series. kobe with 5 ft's in 3 games? come on. even getting no calls tmac averaged 9 ft per game against utah. kobe's at 1.7 ft per game.
again, kobe's rep v. bowen's rep. bowen is regarded as the best perimeter defender. also, the spurs give kobe tons of space on the perimeter. and as you're observing, he's scoring on JUMPERS. the dunks/layups he gets are usually off of cuts rather than individual penetration. with the way the spurs play him, he'll get to the line at most around 5-6 times a game.
why are they so impressed by duncan's rebounds? so many of them are just uncontested without any lakers even close. lakers played terrible defense the whole second half and the spurs are just shooting too well and nobody but kobe has done anything for the lakers.
i guess b/c that's the only way he can get fouled and go to the line. 2 ft's in 2 games. i guess the spurs just don't foul anybody.
EJ: Nice of the Spurs fans to stick around after the game... CB: ....It ain't like they had something to do afterwards... RM: There's plenty to do...there's the Riverwalk... CB: That ain't a river, that's a creek... Then Chuck made a crack about the abundance of fat people in SA. Classic.
This loss is on Lamar Odumb! Pathetic performance tonight, missing layup after layup, go up strong for once. Game 4 is the key, if the Spurs win that puts a lot of pressure on the Lakers to win game 5 at home, and if the Lakers win the series is practically over.
I think you miss a big part of Pop's early coaching qualifications. The way Bob Hill got fired is brutal. But now, we know that's a right business decision.
Brent Barry has alot of game left that's going to waste in San Antone. he can still do way way more than just spot up for 3s. I guess he is winning championships though.
what are kobe's teammates doing? he's 4-4 and fisher takes a contested jumper to not give it to be kobe, then walton has kobe posting up and instead just runs his man over on an ill-advised drive, and then they throw a terrible pass trying to get it in to him. this isn't that hard. and the spurs still getting plenty of respect from the refs (edit: are you kidding me with that foul for brent barry? basically just 2 free points on a ticky-tack call 40 feet from the basket, the more aggressive team is being doubled up on free throws). and could luke walton stop sabotaging his team.
Lakers came to play tonight. They are playing hard and taking it to the Spurs on the boards. Let's see if they have the gumption to be steady in the 2nd half and claim this game after the Spurs turn up the heat.
