THe Pistons are probably would be more like the Braves. Buffalo Bills never only got close to a Super Bowl once, the Scott Norwood missed FG at the end of regulation. The Bills were blown out in the next 3 Super Bowls.

The Pistons are actually a great team, their defense and team is built more to stop a team like Hornets or Lakers than SA. Because, they are a bit younger across the board especially on the bench. I think Boston would give LA a little bit more trouble, too.

I still don't think this series is over, because the Spurs could very easily win the next two at home and steal on LA.

I'll say they are done if they lose Game 3...and later 4. But if they tie series up, they still have chance to win.

Wow, didn't notice this. That's a travel. When he does his little pump fake, his establishes left foot as his pivot foot by picking up his right foot. Then he switches, using right foot as pivot to take another step to the rim.

    Pathetic.

I think this series is over. It won't end in a sweep as I don't see the Spurs folding after their Game 1 choke the way the Magic did against us in '95(remember they also blew a 20 point lead). But they look old and tired. Experience may have been enough to barely overcome the young Hornets, but the Fakers have Kobe, Fisher, and Philip.

Maybe Popovich should let Kobe get his and switch Bowen onto Odom. He's gotta try something different cuz blowing a 20 point lead with less than 18 minutes to go in a game and then losing the next time out by 30 points means what you're doing right now ain't working.

look closer, he never picks up his right foot when he stops dribbling and that is his pivot foot when taking the shot.

It's clearly a travel. No question about it.

looks like he steps back onto his left foot to do the pump. during that his right foot follows and lifts off the ground, so his left foot becomes the pivot. then he just runs off lol. travel to me.

actually they all would rather face the Celtics. Their dream would be to beat the Celtics in games 7 in Boston.
    • Never in Lakers history, Minn nor LA, in game 7 of the finals, has the team been able to defeat the Celts, much less in Boston. I think the Lakers' record is 0 and 4 or 5 against the Celts in game 7.
not only will Phil over-take Red Auerabach in terms of # of NBA rings, clinching it in Boston would be like pissing in Red's grave ! :D :D :D

Once they can come back from 20pts down, "mature" shouldn't be in doubt.

It's a travel in book, not in NBA when you need to do slow mo analysis to find out.

It's hard to tell b/c the camera cut off his right foot when going for the shot. Does he really take a step w/ his right foot? If so, then you're right, it is traveling.

Hmm, I would respect your opinion if you actually made a prediction of some type on this series in this thread somewhere prior to the first two games....but since you didn't.......

I didn't pick in this series but I wouldn't have been surprised if the Spurs won it (going in).

The NBA is a game of match-ups. The Spurs have one of the best individuals to make Kobe work, and Duncan should about Gasol's worst cover he could have on both ends. Also, interior defense is not a Laker strength--thus one might think Duncan operating in the low block and Parker and Manu via penetration would get a lot of high % shots. Also, remember if not a Spurs offensive meltdown they win game 1. If they play average offense, they win game 2 regardless of Kobe having a great 2nd half.

Keeping with the theme of match-ups, on the other hand I think the Lakers would have torn up NO. Though NO and SA were close as teams, I just think NO strengths (penetrating PG) and swarming helping defense would not have faired well versus the Lakers good perimeter defense (Fisher/Kobe/Odom) and good shooters.

Having said all this going in, the Spurs have finished the last 3 games very poorly. I don't ever remember Manu playing as bad as he has either. They look worn, tired and old. So it seems like a very hard task for them to win 4/5 with only 1 day off between. LA can deliver a KO by winning game 3 or game 4. The Spurs have looked dead in the water and responded (down 3-1 vs Dallas, vs 0-2 NO)--so I would not totally count them out. I will with a 3-1 count though (if the Lakers get a split).

Series will be the same as the NO vs Spurs series, where the Spurs win game 7 on the road.

Celtics will win it all. They elevate their play on the road against elite teams not mediocore teams.

man the lakers' offense is just amazing. every single guy out there is a legit threat to score double figures, 3 guys are legit threats to score 20, and you have a guy who's a legit threat to put up 30-40 nightly. and then you have a bench that is a legit threat to put up 20+ on you every time.

wow an assembly of offense the lakers have

is manu the most overrated player in the L?

dude plays 30 mpg and 1 day of rest is not good enough for him? and yet collins use that as an excuse for him. unbelievable.

and yet they say he's their best player?
