I think the fact the Mavs defense was terrible AND Dirk was virtually invisible in the 1st half, yet it's only a 4 point game tells the tale. If Dirk returns to form in the 2nd half, the Spurs are cooked. Down the final stretch of the season, how weak they are without Manu became obvious, IMO. On the other hand, the Mavs have demonstrated serious team chemistry recently along with Dirk's stellar play. Rick Carlisle isn't the type of coach to let them lose this series. Even if they somehow win this game, the Spurs will not be able to stay with the Mavs.

dampier with an excellent job of running out to stop duncan from taking that 22 footer he makes 100% of the time and forcing him into that uncontested layup he makes 30% of the time. wait...what?

LOL at Bonner! 1st flopped at Dampier, then left baseline for Dirk for a dunk.

If the Hornets beat the Nuggets, pencil the Mavs into the WCFs.

Oops! 9 pt lead by the Mavs.

TP looks like he runs out of gas. Does TP have another gear?

The mavs are very lucky to have all players healthy when this playoff starts.

that's why duncan is a legend. struggled the last 2 months b/c of injuries, but steps up his game in the playoffs. only superstars can do that.

Didn't NO beat the Mavs last year? You don't think they could do it again?

Hornets are worse than they were last year. Mavs are better than they were last year.

Yea but I don't think it will be enough even if they win this game I don't see them winning the serious without their most clutch player.

The only time Duncan didnt advance to 2nd round was when he was injured and sat out the playoffs.

But I am betting against him this season.

    Really?

Whats makes you think that? I still think the Mavs will have the same problem as last year and that is they couldn't stop Chris Paul. He will get in the paint at will

Last year is irrelevant. The Hornets aren't the same team. Peja is worse. Chandler is worse. Their chemistry is off. Everything went right for the Hornets last year and this season they've come down to Earth. The Mavs have a new coach, one that the players actually respect. Dirk, Kidd and some of the other players HATED Avery Johnson and it showed in the playoffs. Kidd (more than anyone else) is basically a brand new player.

I repeat: Last year is irrelevant. CP will do his damage, but so what?

Very poor rotation on Spurs' defense.

so what? paul averages something like 35 and 11 v. them this year and he'll do the same to them if they meet. it's not like the mavs swept the hornets this year during the reg. season. it'll be a very close series though.
