Well it's because it's true, WB has a lot of qualities that make him a star player but he needs to be like DWade and be true to himself, he's not a PG he's an undersized SG. I guess he doesn't want to do that since it'll be tougher scoring on SGs (so his FG% will be worse), his stats will go down since he'll handle the ball less and he'll need to learn how to play off-the-ball instead of taking turns with KD, however if he wants to become a better player he needs to be true to himself just like Dwade. I don't think he's the biggest problem with OKC (having big men who can't score is, Ibaka's only good for 8-12 pts a game and Perkins has devolved into a backup big man level at this point), however having a shoot-first dude who can't really make plays for everyonbe like WB reallys hurts their offense...you just don't notice it because KD is like the god of offense nowadays, it's like he sucked up Dirk, Ray Allen and KG's offensive game ala space jam. It'd be like if Miami made Ray Allen a starter and had Wade play PG, or if Houston made Harden the PG and started Garcia or Casspi...it looks good on paper but the offense tends to suffer IRL. It's even more puzzling in OKC because IIRC they have a perfectly good pg riding the pine when he could be playing 30-40 mins a night, and WB is better than Thabo in almost every facet of the game.
The last time a healthy Thunder played they went to the Finals and lost to the Heat, and Harden (not Westbrook) choked which caused them to lose. Why don't you try seeing what they can do in the Playoffs before making threads like this.
Take it a step further. The real problem is a boneheaded coach who plays him when he has no business being on the floor. Only time he should play is when the opponent has a low post scoring C. It's a complete joke Perkins still averages 20 mins/game. There is no rational reason for this. Perk can't help being sorry and that his coach puts him in situations that kill the team. When you think about it, it's amazing OKC has the best record in the West when bonehead still hasn't figured out playing Perkins and Thabo at the same time is puts the team in a 3 on 5 situation.
Opps^^ wrong thread. OKC needs Westbrook if they want a deep playoff run. Westbrook is still getting his rhythm back. What happened to OKC without Westbrook last year? BAD
Cant expect a guy to come off a knee surgery and start dominating a professional league of players right away, come on man
dude that'd be a really good team... rondo harden durant. you have an elite D pg that can dish the ball really well to Harden and Durant
Yep and Ainge would have taken Westbrook for Rondo most likely. And OKC would still have Harden. No Kevin Martin or Jeremy Lamb though, lol.
But he's always been an inefficient ball-stopping chucker. It has nothing to do with his health. The guy doesn't know his role. If he played as a true point and didn't try to take over games, yes, he would be an amazing player and compliment to Durant. But right now he just gets in the way.
Also the argument that last years playoffs is proof that they need Westbrook is weak. Jackson was forced into a the starting role and Durant had to suddenly carry the team when he had never had to do that before. It was just a major shock to their chemistry that they didn't have time to overcome. This year is totally different. Jackson is playing great and Durant has entered God-mode. Every shot Westbrook takes from Durant is a bad shot.
That said, Harden is the reason they got to the Finals. Westbrook was playing HORRIBLY versus the Spurs and Harden took the load off him. If I'm the Thunder I move Westbrook and Perkins and pickup a big like Love. Jackson is a super capable PG, they need to get rid of Perkin's contract, and they need a big who can rebound.
When Michael Jordan came back to the Bulls after baseball the Bulls lost the game. This happens a lot. Great player returns, gotta work out chemistry issues.
The guy is coming back from three knee surgeries in less than a year lol. I didn't watch the game last night but watching the highlights and looking at the box score he was fine in limited minutes. If you think his 13 shots took away from the 30 Durant took that'd be hilarious. If you let a team score 125 points you're more than likely gonna lose. I hate these stupid threads when a team doesn't do well immediately when a star returns to the lineup.
