And this is why people think so little of real Christians ...FYI they are not....they are basically a different religion all togther
I'm sorry that your experience with Christians thus far has led you to feel this way. I'm a Christian, and I'm here to tell you that Jesus said that many will hear the word, but only 25 percent will actually understand what he's saying (Mark 4:13-20). This doesn't mean that the remaining 75 percent are hateful people. They're just not letting the word get into their spirit. Everyone in the classroom has ears and hears the lesson, but once class is over and they leave, how many truly understood the message? Adultery is also a sin, and how did Jesus handle this when the town wanted to stone this lady to death? He said, "let he that is WITHOUT sin cast the first stone" (John 8:7). These people who are protesting this are casting stones. It's one thing to state your belief, but this isn't what they're doing. They're attacking (casting stones). These people are what Jesus referred to as religious people. As a Christian, I believe the word, and it tells me that a man shall not lay down with another man. There are all types of sins, and a sin is a sin in God's eyes. So these people who are casting stones, what sins are they guilty of? Being judgmental is in fact a sin, and thus why Jesus said, "let he that is without sin among you cast the first stone". Collins isn't accountable to his critics nor the people who support him. He's accountable to God the Father, and it's between them and them alone. I don't know if Collins is a Christian or not, but if he isn't, these religious people aren't showing him the glory of God and what he's all about. God gave each and every one of us FREE volition. To either choose to believe him and his word or to not believe. He wants ALL of us to make the decision to believe, but what he doesn't want to happen is those who haven't made the decision to believe on him to be attacked by those who have. So I say to all of you who haven't made the decision to believe in Jesus Christ, don't let these religious people sway your opinion on Jesus, and who and what he's all about. I hope that you open your heart one day, and let the Holy Spirit speak to you or let a Christian that truly understands who Jesus is (and how he transforms people's souls) testify to you on how he's worked in their life and than you can decide on your own FREE volition to believe or not. To pray to Jesus to reveal himself to you. Christians are there to just share their testimony (planting the seed) with non-believers, and it's up to the Holy Spirit to do the rest (add the water). This is what I believe and for those that don't believe/agree with it, all I can say is that's your right and I won't attack you for believing something different than me. If you decide to attack me for my belief, this makes you NO different than these religious people who want to cast stones on Collin's and the people who wanted to stone the woman who committed adultery to death. May each of you have a blessed day.
This has nothing to do with mainstream christianity. They are a breakaway group that mainly consists of the pastor and his children. They came into my neighborhood and there were only 5 of them.
You're absolutely right, because 9/11 also means that every person who is a muslim is a terrorist, or at least 95%. It also means that because you're a douche, at least 95% of your relatives are also douches.
They are not Fundamentalists. WBC people aren't Christians, or even believe in God. They're just, as another poster said, trolls.
Well this thread took a sharp D&D turn. But I will say, these numb nuts just might take some of the attention and hate off of Beverley for this game.
This is not what the first amendment was meant to condone, these "people" are complete douchebags and just use it as an excuse to alienate those around them.
This thread was destined for D&D from post one. This is one of those times when the subject, even if it is about a Rockets game....does not belong in GARM. Away you go to D&D
Geez.. what the hell is wrong with this world? When I read this kind of crap, I picture in my head the crazy guy from the movie Contact played by Gary Busey's son.
wow sweetness1, stand up and show your right! I mean, pump your fist in the air dude. (actually its the worst sweet & sour act I've seen in years)
Boycotting a game because a player comes out as homosexual, when he isn't even playing on any of the teams in the playoffs? Damn, that is stupid logic, only way it could be dumber is if they bought tickets to the game and still stood outside so that there would be empty seats on the TV broadcast. Wait that is probably too complicated for them, they are probably going to burn Collins old Celtic gear/pictures since he really doesn't have a lot of Wizards stuff and they are probably too lazy or unequiped to try finding recent pictures outside of a quick Google search. Eh, most Christians that follow the Word usually don't try to make such a 'Show' of their faith like these Westboro folk seem to do in their "teachings" so I hope people who claim to be tolerant keep open minds about other people's religious freedoms and choices and not just lump this up as a normal Christian thing. That is like thinking the type of flamboyant and abrasive women depicted on reality television are the only ones out there that are successful.
You couldn't be more wrong. You realize that more than half of this nation consider themselves Christians. Do you think that more than of this nation agree with Westboro?
Completely untrue. I am a Christian and have no views similar to these people. These people are not Christians. They are people who use the bible and pushes some of its ideas in a negative way in order to promote themselves. I do not know a single Christian who spews hate and truly believes it like these people do. I do not associate myself with the people when it comes to my faith in any way and I never will. Christians are called to love one another and spread God's word in a positive way and also stand up for what they believe in. In today's society, we cannot do that because it is frowned upon and gets shoved back into our faces. The people that stand out and make the news are people like this who have extreme views and push them in negative ways. To say that all Christians are like this shows complete stubbornness. It would be the equivalent to me saying that all Atheist are devil worshiping, satanic people who strive to eliminate the Christian faith. It's completely untrue and unfair to make an assumption based upon a small group of people.
