Why do you all think that Bartlett agonized so over that pardon? Is it because, as he hinted to Santos, that it would have repercussions?
I'm disappointed we never found out who Toby was "protecting". I thought they were going to reveal that Bartlet ordered him to do the leak.
Bartlett made it very clear that he was not happy about what Toby had done. He thought Toby deserved to go to jail, and the only reason he pardoned him was because Toby is his friend and he didn't want to take him away from his children. He was struggling because he knows that if it was not a friend of his, there is no way he would have pardoned him.
I really enjoyed the finale. Nice, heartwarming moments. The scene where President Bartlett gave Charlie the copy of the Constitution was great. I'm really going to miss this show. I'd love to see a season with the new administration. How strange is it that Bradley Whitford and his wife, Jane Kaczmarek, both had their long-time shows have series finales on the same night at the same time?
On the plus side, they showed a promo for Aaron Sorkin's new show "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip". Sadly, this is already my favorite show on TV and it hasn't aired yet.
Finally got to watch the finale last night. It was a great show. They did more of the new administration than I thought they would. It still ended as I imagined, with President Barlett flying home. I will miss the show greatly. However, I do believe it was time. To try and do it with a new president would have been tough. Thanks for 7 great seasons. Now, if only someone other than Bravo would pick them up in syndication.
I found a copy of the first episode's script on the net. It's incredible if it's legit (and I believe it is).
