I was not speaking to his ability to govern, I was speaking to his ability to campaign strategically, which I think has been demonstrated throughout the primaries. It seemed like you and others were putting forth the idea tha WV / PA / Kentucky are somehow Barack Obama's political Waterloo, I was suggesting that this was exaggerated given the circumstances outlined above. I do think it is a concern, just not a fatal political situation, which I sense is a theory being put forth.

I will happily speak to my impression of his ability to govern at a later time, I will start a thread on it soon, when I have time to write something thoughtful about it. But the above post was only referring to his political skills and the big picture of the primaries, not his fitness for commander in chief. I am not sure where you got that.

Just out of curiosity, I went back to the Republican primary in West Virginia to see how the candidate who is now the nominee did...

    Oh boy...

    Huckabee - 52%

    Romney - 47%

    McCain - 1%

Dude, not exactly a stronghold for McCain.

30% of voters say that they are Republicans, 56% say they are Democrats, and 13% say they are Independents.

Did you know Dukakis won West Virginia?

    WOW.

    Hahahhahaha.

Too bad Hill-dog couldn't pull out a smackdown in a state that mattered.

 CNN now has McCain as the projected winner, with 75% of the vote.

    Mulder, Donny, and bucket,
McCain cut a deal to send his voters to Huckabee, so that Romney wouldn't win the state. Go back and read the papers from the date of the vote... That will bring you guys up to speed on what happened, instead of your current position of drawing conclusions from wild guesses...

It's true. They had something similar to a caucus, except it was a statewide "convention" and you have to get X% to win during the first round. No one got a high enough % of votes in the first round, but it was Romney, Huckabee, McCain in that order. Romney was going to win in the 2nd rd, but the McCain supporters went over to Huck in order to keep Romney from winning because McCain had no chance of winning in the 2nd rd.

I remember reading about it. A highly unusual incident during the GOP's "winner takes all" primary campaign vote, which was the way Democrats did it for many years.

Now that The Three Muskateers of Misrepresentation have been exposed for all to see, I want to memorialize this, the BALLOT BOX BLUNDER, and highlight the fact that Donny and bucket chimed right in with sheep-like support. Ah yes, the libs learn a little something about how wrong they are every single day...

A full 49% of Democratic primary voters in WV said they thought Obama was not trustworthy. Wow. WOW. When only 1 in 4 Democratic primary voters today voted for Obama, you've got a serious, serious problem. Obama has not succeeded in winning over these voters. How could he POSSIBLY represent the party when he can fails so resoundingly in uniting his own party?

I thought Obama said he transcended race? The data shows the opposite.

Good thing winning the Presidency doesn't require anyone to win every state!

What the hell? All I did was post that CNN had McCain as the winner and that I had no idea where Mulder's 1% came from.

The D&D wouldn't be the same if it were a lovefest. That's probably why the trolls are nice and fat....

It must be my bleeding heart pumping from a latte high, but I feel bad for true pre-Bush Conservatives. Just a little. Then again, they didn't speak up against him during the foreign intervention or the scores of laws making the government larger, and they voted him again just for the Supreme Court seats knowing that they had a Pretender and his court of fools in their midsts.

But to have a formerly intellectual movement implode from within is always bad for the political landscape. I'm not sure how overconfidence will affect Democrat leadership, but that worry is far better thing to have than the aimless squandering of our national interest for the past 7 and a half years.

I find it tremendously irritating that the same moronic douchebags who claim Obama is only popular because he's black have the simultaneous audacity to pretend no racism in the opposite vein occurs.

I mean, how dumb can you be?
