VERY sad and tragic. Prayers out to the family http://m.kfdm.com/kfdm/pm_11447/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=qtuHPysL
Prayers to the WOS community and the Garrett family. I have had the opportunity to coach against him several times and he was a very gifted athlete and a very fine young man. Our coaching staff was in shock tonight when we heard the news.
Whenever I watched football games in high school, if anyone even got injured there was this sinking feeling through the whole stadium. I can't even imagine being at that game. Prayers.
A recent update says he suffered a seizure right after he threw a TD pass. At least he went out on top, playing in a texas high school football game is like nothing else in the world, not to mention being a starting qb. RIP
Whats really sad about this situation, is that WO-S is a GREAT Football school. They produce great athletes from a great coach. (Think Earl Thomas, and Deon Beasley on UT this year)great kids have come from this school and i know earlier QB's have gone on to play college football as well. With that said, its a shame because i know this kid should have had a great future and im sure he had a very good chance at going to the next level to play in college and get a good education. Its just a sad sad story, im sure his family was there cheering on the game and then that happened. Prayers go out to the family, school, and community. This is a big eye opener for everyone....be happy you wake up every morning and can see the light of day. God Bless.
This makes me sick to my stomach. Can't believe something like this couldn't be prevented. Poor kid could have had been successful in the NFL or something. Praying for his family and friends.
Your point is? Just respect the people who pass away and move along. You don't need to be an ass. Sorry if it came out wrong.
Sure, why not? The manner in which he passed is extremely tragic...and, in my opinion, makes it thread worthy. Even if I didnt think it was thread worthy, I wouldnt walk into a thread and downplay the death of a young man. Have some respect.
Very sad. It happens in soccer from time to time. Most of the time, it turns out later that the person had an undetected irregular heart condition.
Serious question: should athletes at the amateur (college/high school, etc.) level get more rigorous testing which would include brain, heart, lung and other vital organ monitoring? Seems like I read about this stuff too much.
