    Malls are a dying breed.

City Centre is awesome. I don't think the West Oaks area could support something similar but it would be better than trying to renovate the mall.

Yep the Town & Country one is really nice.

Straits is a nice restaurant and Mona Lisa (bar) is great too.

My brother is getting married at Hotel Sorella in 2010.

The West Oaks area is lower-middle to lower class, so I don't think the wealth is there to support a City Centre type development. Perhaps an outlet mall could be sustainable.

When I lived on the west side a few years ago we would rarely go to West Oaks because it was so trashy. The only good thing about that mall was/is the Alamo Draft House.

It's hard to believe that Memorial City used to be the same way, because I had never been there back then. Now it's really nice.

There is not one in the Galleria.

Plus that one in West Oaks specifically had good sales. I got a pair of all charcoal gray Air Max 95s for 60 bucks back in the day when that was a really good price.

You answered your own question. People haven't been there in a while... so now the shops are gone.

I still <3 that mall. To bad all the shops are near gone. So many memories there.

The Alamo Draft House that is located inside near the food court entrance is still a great place though.

Man, used to love that mall when I was a kid. Especially over Christmas time. Would hit up the Blockbuster Music and listen to some CDs. Then James Coney for lunch. Do some Christmas shopping. Then a movie afterward. I believe that is the theater where I first saw Home Alone.

It seemed like Steve & Barry's had a 50%-off sale every other week.

I really hope nothing happens to Alamo Drafthouse, though. Nothing beats cold pitchers of beer and a pile of nachos in a movie theatre.
