I'm basing it off of nothing, but I think it would be a good fit. Peyton would be a great QB for Welk, and Den is weak at the position. Plus it would be a big FU to NE if they don't resign him. I doubt he goes to Miami because he more than likely wants another ring, and that isn't happening there.
Their payroll for WRs is really low, not sure what their overall cap space is like, but that is a good fit and I would hate to see it happen.
I'm guessing they work it out. It' be hard to leave Tom Brady as that has been an insane combo over the years. A few more great seasons and Welker could find himself in the HOF. Though him going elsewhere and having success probably will make him more $ as well as help his legacy to get rid of the whole its all Tom Brady/system talk etc... I don't think he is as replaceable as what most people think. Welker is headed to his 5th 100+ catch season which will be an NFL record. I don't believe anybody else under Brady has gotten to 100 receptions. If they can't work out I can see Denver, Dallas perhaps Indy getting involved. (Rumored to be interested back in the summer time)
You're really going to defend Martin's play? He's been really solid as a returner, especially lately, but it's pretty hard to be impressed with his offensive play so far this year... Through 12 games: 9 REC 24 TRGT 89 YD 1 TD 1 FUM Those are sub-Jacoby numbers.
Nope. Thomas and Decker are under contract for 2 and 1 more years, respectively. Their journeyman fodder, Stokely and Willis, are set to go, but that's not a big loss. Broncos have $12.1 million in cap space. I would not be shocked if they find a way to make it happen. Peyton could use a guy like that.
Well, Welker was seeking a 2 year deal worth over $20mil last offseason. If he hasn't softened his stance, he will not be in Denver.
A QB like Flacco, probably doesn't throw to him. Not enough go routes. Would Peyton want to spurn a guy he loves like Stokely for Welker? Welker would not be a huge statistical bump in their offensive production, for that system. He'd be a Decker with more separation. It will be interesting in the offseason to see how much a run-heavy guy like Fox and Elway allow Peyton to shape the offense.
