I wanted Yao to kick ass (especially vs. Howard and Boozer), but of course I want team USA to win. It's too damn embarrassing for team USA to lose year after year.

I can understand rooting for Yao, because I was for sure. I wanted to see him in shape, healthy, and to have a good game in front of his home crowd.

But how you could cheer China over the US if you live in the States is beyond me.

I want the US to win the gold.I want Yao Ming and Luis Scola to do well. I'm worried about Yao or Luis getting injured, especially Yao.

USA. I like Yao, but China doesn't have the skill nor right to win.

I was rooting for team USA but held my breathe when Yao went down and held his ankle. I wanted Yao to elbow Deron Williams in the face.

He wasn't invited for the Olympics, he was somebody they just used until they got the all stars.

Use your brain. If you want Yao to retire/never wants to play national ball again, you would want them to do well, not badly. Someone like you would just give up and run away from challenge when you don't see much chance of success. But Yao is not the same as you. He is a fighter and much tougher mentally. He would choose to keep playing until he can exit the game after a memorable moment.

Yao. And I wanted China to win. I have no allegiance to a team run by a college coach.

I knew USA was going to win but inside I kinda wanted the underdogs to win. I did, however, have a heart attack when Yao went down late and clutched his right ankle. Then I was even more in panic mode when he came back on a few minutes later. I thought it was pointless since they were down 30, but national pride is important I guess and he got a dunk.

Anyone rooting for China should pack their effing bags and move there. I can't believe some of you people who live in the USA would have the nerve to even root for China. I rooted for Yao... Thats it. Other than that I was on the Kobe and Lebron wagon. Why? Ohh yeah cus they are AMERICAN..and are representing us!!!! When NBA season is here go Rockets... when the Olympics are here.. go USA!!!!!!

I was rooting for China to make all those shots early on just for the "Aww how cute" factor. And that one time everyone on the US guarded the outlet pass and the Chinese PG got all the way to the basket for an uncontested finger roll was hilarious.

But the course of the game progressed just the way I'd have wanted it to. If we had not blown China out I think that would have been a serious blow to our morale and subsequently our chances down the road to win gold. Honestly teams won't shoot as well as China did in the first half against us, but I am concerned about our own 3-point shooting. Even Redd has sucked lately. Against a team like Angola next game, Coach K should just be like, "Screw the easy lay-ups and dunks, I want ALL OF YOU to work on your drive-and-kick-out to the open three, and just keep taking them all game. If you get a fast break, pull up for a three."

That way we'd be looser on our outside shots when the time really comes for us not to choke out there.

I saw the same 'soft' Yao game out there....I was just glad he didn't get hurt.

    USA all the way baby!

China play very well early...good for them. They really gave the crowd hope and something to cheer for.
