The rumor was we almost traded Luther for a pick in the teens so we could nab Thabo. He got scooped up before we could pull the trigger.....

At the time, our Euro scout Gianlucca (I forget his last name) and Dean Cooper were very high on Thabo's defensive skills and his fit within what JVG liked to do.

Wasn't this when Minnesota wanted Randy Foye all along and they were going to draft Roy and we draft Foye and switch? Then Boston sells their pick to Portland and they draft Foye and screw us over?

    11-6-2 with 2stl 1blk

in 34 minutes over 8 games.

small sample size, yes. but thabo looks like he can be an elite defender. i think thats why the rockets liked him over gay. teach him the corner 3 and you have battier v2.0.

No, they were wrong. Gay is the better player.

JVG would of traded away any 1st round pick for a fruit basket if it means he wouldn't have to spend a minute trying to develop him! That's why guys like JVG can never put together a good supporting class, because that requires developing rookies into role players and the occasional star. SVG and Larry Brown are the same way. Their ego has to be bigger than the players.

It was a poor example throwing Lebron and Carmelo in the doghouse when they just wanted to learn and support their country, even on the bench, but someone had to make an immediate example of their power for no reason.

Agreed, and if we had almsot anyother coach we would have drafted him. Especially since Luther Head was so much better Randy Gay!

It's not they need to evaluate them so much as just not sell all of them. They also sold the Deng pick which could have been Iguadala for them which would make sense due to the ASU thing. And that would have been on the team with Joe Johnson. No team has screwed their fans worse this decade than the Suns.

I wanted brewer. He got better every yr at arkansa, great athlete, good defender early, can run a offense. Draft him, sign a swing vet, keep balling.

Yeah but they must be underestimating these guys if they are trading them away, within the last 4 yrs or so they practically traded away all their picks who could start in this league and kept all their picks who can't make the team or will forever be backups.

This is why I currently hate the Blazers as much as the Jazz and the Mavs and the Spurs. They screwed us HUGE in that draft.

I know it's all just gamesmanship, and that's fine, but all that bad karma is biting them in the a$$ now, ain't it? LOL

We would have beating Utah at least once in the first round if that had happened. If nothing else it would have been addition by subtraction by not having Luther around to disappear in the playoffs.

Minnesota got what the deserved for passing on B-Roy to take Randy Foye. Then this year they traded OJ Mayo for Kevin Love. What a bunch of dumbasses.
