They are saying that our schedule was so easy and thats why we went 20-0. They are saying we got lucky when Dallas didnt have Dirk or NO West. I dont even think the media mention Yao when discussing the streak. They do when discussing the play-offs however. But I dont really mind the negativity towards the postseason. With Yao I would have given us a good chance vs ANYBODY. Without Yao, we can beat most of the teams but will probably struggle with the Lakers and Suns.
Intrestingly enough, the other two teams with similar 20ish win streaks (Milwaukee/LA) are built exaclty as Houston as...versatile SG (Big O/Kobe/Mac), dominant offensive C (Kareem/Shaq/Yao) and energetic role player. If Yao hadn't gone down, talent-wise, we are very similar to those two teams.
Yeah, I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wish that our streak ended at twelve when Yao went down and our current streak is at 7.
I don't think you have to worry about that. We could win out the rest of the regular season and everyone(aside from us fans) will still predict a first round exit.
Agreed. However, there is some truth to what he said. After tonight, we are not a 20-0 team. We're a 21-0 team.
Durvasa was just looking ahead. He knew we would no longer be a 20-0 team after tonight. He should have just saved this thread until after the game.
Yes over the past 9 games we don't have the same players as in the first 12. But they have strong chemistry and work ethic. Their collective poise facing so many different situations has been their strength throughout the streak and even before the streak began if you consider that from 15-17 we have gone 30-3. The coaching staff has done a simply marvelous job. Collectively, this group just finds ways to win regardless of who is available and they have covered for Yao's absence by stepping up their own play, so they are at least as good over the past 9 games as they were over the first 12. They have the resolve to keep going without Yao, to keep at it game by game, and most importantly to remain humble. That makes me so confident that they will continue to win.
