With this move, management has officially abandoned hope to make noise in the playoffs this year.

Time will tell but you cant compare Williams (probably a top 3 pg in the NBA) to Brooks, can you?

By trading a PG who is putting up 11 and 5!? What if Brooks puts up 14 and 7? Would be nice if people actually waited a week to see what happens. It's not like the Rockets are starting a scrub at the PG spot.

Yes I can. Ask Utah and San Antonio. They got ran out of the playoffs with Derek Fisher at the PG spot.

I think this trade happened because of Tracy deciding to be out for the year. Without Tracy, they know they aren't contenders. Perhaps they can get to the second round in the playoffs ... but this was a longer term decision, IMHO. We got something of value for Alston, some salary relief for 2010, and we'll have a chance to see if Brooks is the man at PG.

... but, I think they gave up on being contenders, and this was a wise move to manage resources.

Having Alston wasn't going to make or break Houston as a contender. The Rockets should have been looking at making a deal like this anyway. You would think Alston was an All-Star PG.

I'm gonna miss the teardrop that never went in. I'm going to miss the 1-10 shooting nights on wide open jumpers. I'm going to miss the 1 on 1 battles with opposing pgs that were better than him. I'm going to miss Rafer "running the offense". I'm going to miss Rafer's off the court incidents. I'm going to miss Rafer getting torched by opposing pgs. I'm going to miss the Rafer Alston experiment and so are 29 other teams when they play the Rockets. Congratulations to Orlando they got an AND1 streetballer on their team.

I don't think I'm going to miss his teardrop. That's for sure.

Rafer had his moments, but most of the time, he didn't. With Brooks and Lowry I think fans will see the Rocks push the ball more and get into the uptempo game Adelman has wanted.

What playoffs the 7 extra games we play after 82. That's not playoff, playoffs is when u get pass the 1st round. The only thing we're going to miss is being pissed off that we didn't get past the 1st Round.

Everyone, please stop acting like this dude took us to the WCF or NBA finals.

we are what, 10 or 11 games above 500? why people think we can't make the playoff? that's ridiculous. We have enough talent to WIN a playoff series!

Here's a breakdown of PGs in the West for playoff bound teams

    New Orleans: Chris Paul
    San Antonio: Tony Parker
    Los Angleles: Derek Fisher
    Phoenix: Steve Nash
    Utah: Deron Williams
    Dallas: Jason Kidd
    Denver: Chauncey Billups
    Houston: Kyle Lowry/Aaron Brooks

    Which one doesn't belong?

Maybe. I really haven't seen much from Lowry, but at least he is young and attacks the rim.

And when they were in, he stepped down, firing away and bricking jumpers.
