Pretty sure other countries around the world without duopolies have most of the same problems as the US. Israel's parliamentary system just elected a jackass who wants to overthrow the court system so it can't investigate him. France's system has protestors burning trash around the country. England's system led to Brexit and destroying their own economy. Countries all over Europe are grappling with failures in their health care systems. On and on.

Why can't you exactly state what is this duopoly problem that Dems are ignoring? What do YOU want them to do exactly?

How many times do you have to be disappointed in the American electorate before you learn to stop dumping Gatorade on the coach at halftime?

I swear I have never seen so much arrogance in the face of such precarious odds.

Hey @Reeko and @astros123, what do you think are the chances of Biden winning against Trump? 10:1 for Biden? 6:4? ...?

    Tepid non-defense there.

You can cherry pick examples all day (it's a big planet, you're always going to be able to find bad actors) but the undeniable truth is our system of forced non-choice is leading us to ruin, plain as day.

Edit: here is what choice creates and promotes in government:

-accountability (if you can more easily move your vote people can be held more accountable for their actions)
-transparency (simplicity is the enemy of entrenchment... Opaqueness is its ally)
-dynamism (you can move faster to solve problems and pass legislation when you have multiple options to build consensus and broker deals/coalitions)
-creativity (more options means more ideas and more dynamic problem solving)
-reduced polarization (having a spectrum of options to move between means you are not forced into a binary that amplifies and promotes extremists)

There is no legitimate defense of how we govern ourselves. It's awful and guarantees our failure.

I've bet 20k so far with a few doctors and agreed to 7/4 odds.

If anyone wants to wager *any* sum of cash feel free to message me and I'll have a lawyer draw up a binding contract.

I consider it a coin flip so that would be pretty dumb.

I can’t give any specific odds…I’ll just say that I do not see Trump winning another general election

Hard to focus on changing the rules when the re-election rate is 90% and it's those re-elected jackasses that control making the rules you want to change so they aren't re-elected.

Nobody knows what is coming down the pipe over the next decade but those who are clinging on this Trump/Biden regime haven't a clue anything is coming down the pipe. Bundles of red flags are being thrown around like wedding bouquets and each side are cheering on the rot, completely oblivious to what is going on around them. 'Run it back' is their battle cry when its obvious their super star is only sticking around to maintain status quo and hold tight to what they deem is theirs, all at the expense of the fans. Its very clear neither party is doing what is good for the people of this country as a whole and only simply exist to hold on to their dwindling power.

Yes. It's very hard. But not impossible, and certainly the most important task of our time.

LOL your solution to what's wrong is a bunch of vague bullshit. Typical

The john Lewis voting act literally accomplishes half of what your "concerns" are but it's not like you have the slightest idea.

The ones that have Biden as the favorite? I don’t base who I think will win on Vegas anyways

Democrats have been over performing Vegas odds the entire Biden presidency

It feels almost inevitable we're going to ride this whole "politics as team sports" problem right off the cliff.

I just hope that as few people get hurt as possible in the ensuing cataclysm.

The solution to the problem is sitting on the table. The question is just how bad does it have to get before a critical mass of people realize this has to be rectified before we can move forward.

Joe Biden has been a good President. I don’t want an 80 year old leading the USA, regardless of whether they have a “D” or an “R” next to their name - but Biden has been better than expected.

Right now I find the politics of both parties to be at all time low on my lifetime. Both parties fight about stuff that is largely irrelevant, from the race theory doctrines and drag shows the Republicans claim matter… to the Democrats, which appear to be all inclusive to a degree of absurdity… it gets old. I’m hoping we go back to an era where there is more focus on real issues or at least less distractions.

I will say this- the Democrats are at risk to lose minority support with some of their distractions and the Republicans are risking losing the white suburbs.

" real issues" like climate change and Healthcare? " real issues" like slashing the cost of insulin?

Hopefully one day we can have a party that focuses on such topics like healthcare and climate change

Vegas lines reflect the weight of the bets placed. Ideally, that coresponds with actual outcomes, but we live in a world where a ridiculous percentage of people still either really believe Trump won the last election, or claim to do so for performative reasons.

In the case of politics, there seems to be a decoupling between the prognosticative predictions of the public and actual reality, much more so than something less tied up in personal belief like a Super Bowl betting line. I would argue that the folk wisdom that betting lines are rock solid prognostication tools potentially breaks down when you begin to delve into things with almost religious levels of faith and belief.
