most people would much rather pay for a package to go see the rockets with some friends than have to cough up a bunch individually (40 ticket + 20 food + 5 parking + 25 tshirt + blah blah blah). i dont know if you HAVE to be a family to use the family pack but that would be a big hit and just younger people who want to hang out and have a good time in general. id go as often as possible if i could tell my friends to throw down a specific amount of money and we'd get some kind of package deal. wed also be the loudest kind of fans too so i dont see why its a bad idea. of course they might lose money with so many discounted package rates but judging from the usual multitude of empty seats, whats to lose?
You can p[ark free here, split the keg with me, and watcjh it on a 40" Sony WEGA in nice leather recliners. Plenty of food around (The Rice Hotel). I even promise to not say bad things about JVG... Well, maybe just a little bit... Family packs are available too!
Hmm...the game ended about 30 minute sbefore midnight. There was a short intermission...like 1/3 of the arena left to go home...I think..and about 2/3 stayed. Everyone from the upper bowl all went down to celebrate! Heh..and Frankie J and Baby Bash sang...gave out more t-shirts...and then at midnight...there were fireworks and lots of confetti and just people kissing. And then everyone left and continued to blow their noisemaking objects. Yes...like 2 or three times there was a loud BOOM..bang..firework sound...and it got like silent for a second...
I went to the game as well, which was my second game of the season. My familiy had one of the miniplans, with two other games before this one that I couldn't go to due to my basketball team's schedule or other conflicts. We sit on near the bottom of the top bowl on the side for a good view of everything. Only real complaint I have is the leg room of course. Well that, and who the Power Dancers throw T-Shirts to. This one kid sitting courtside wearing an Allen Iverson jersey got not one, but two shirts by my count. Seemed kind of wrong. Then again, maybe he was like a terminally ill orphan from Philadelphia who Iverson had given tickets to, in which case I'd feel really bad about saying that. Tim, you guys need to get us some season tickets for free. Every any of my immediate family goes to a game, the Rockets win. This has gone on for like the past 3 years for like 10-15 games or so with games against the Lakers, Sixers, Hornets, Suns, etc., and of course that infamous game where the team broke that big losing streak a few years ago. We're good luck.
I went to the Philly game and came out with a totally different opinion. I'm a huge rockets fan since 93 but I had not gone to a game this season since I go to school outside of Houston. The Philly game was my first at the Toyota Center and it was great. I WISH Iverson were playing cause he was a big reason why I bought the Philly game. It was great to see a nice arena, I had seen the pictures but seeing it first hand was totally amazing and better than I could imagine. Went an hour and a half early and was never bored, plenty of stuff to see and do at the Arena. I sat in Section 110 and I didn't feel like I was cramped (I'm 5'11). Although my burger wasn't that good and food was expensive, these were things I expected.... hopefully that can be worked on but I really don't care. Beer was 7 bucks but they served a good amount and it tasted great... I woulda been angry if it was stale or something.... Frankie J... didn't know who he was but the dude could sing and I recognized the songs from the radio so we stayed to watch the concert and it was fun... even bought stuff from the Rockets shop which was also pretty nice. anyways, I had a great time at the game. It was so fun, I committed to buying tickets for tonights game against the Jazz, same exact seats. I usually don't post much but there was too much negativity about the experience that I had to give my two cents. Going to the games are fun, more fun than watching it at home. We need the fans at the game... more importantly, we need the real fans, the Clutchfans in order to make some noise. I'm embarrassed every time I watch a nationally televised game and the arena is deserted and quiet. Going to the game is great fun, I would even buy 10 dollar tickets which I am considering for the Golden State game which is right before I leave for school again. Keep up the good work Tim. And Clutchfans, get out there and represent.
I went to the 12/29 loss to Sonics game.... stinky loss. $89 Family 4-Pack ("A $177 value!") (4) regularly-priced $30 tickets (4) hot dog vouchers (4) soft drink vouchers (2) kids T-shirts ...is what we did. Great deal IMO. But the announcer has no sense of showmanship. The music selection was way outdated. (What's the deal with revelle?) I did appreciate a "countdown" intro as opposed to the drums. Overall, I'd go any chance I could. But the announcer at the AAC in Dallas has much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, more talent. Tim, I rarely address you personally... but get an announcer, for the sake of all that is decent and right. btw- I posted pics of my trip in the 12/29 game thread here And they are also at my IROC it's PICS page
Oh yea, i forgot to mention that key important thing.... the announcer sucks... there were many times when the place was completely silent. Even with the new year's eve noise makers, it was really quiet at times and the announcer didn't do much to make it rowdy....
