Why not just take every single shot from the 3pt line? We'll surely have the record then!

That won't last long for them. Jump shooting team can't win championships. It's a good thing Golden State is around.

The Rockets is shooting .363 3p%. Theoretically, if we took 72 3p shots per game, we would hit 26 about half of the games we played.

Right now, our 3p APG is 40.5. We need to increase that by at least 32. Morey needs to have a serious talk with D'Antoni.

Rockets look to take back 3-point record

The Rockets either hold or are on pace to hold most NBA 3-point records, but one now belongs to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Rockets, however, said that the Cavs could be just borrowing the mark.

The Cavaliers made 25 3-pointers on Friday, breaking the single-game record that the Rockets and Denver Nuggets had shared. But the Rockets said the is a good chance they will eventually hit 26 treys in a game.

"To be honest, when I saw it, it kind of (ticked) me off a little bit," Rockets forward Ryan Anderson said. "We've just kind of maintained those kind of records this season. To have Cleveland do that, it was kind of like, 'really? Cleveland's going to do it?' We now have a goal to beat Cleveland's 25 3-pointers in a game.

"I think we can do it. Obviously, we've broke all kinds of 3-point records this season. They shot the heck out of the ball. It was fun to watch them do that, but we definitely want to beat that, for sure."

The Rockets were on pace to break the record last game, making 20 3s in the first three quarters. But they missed their final 15 3-pointers in Los Angeles, going 0 for 13 in the fourth quarter. The Rockets hold NBA records for games with 10, 15 and 20 3-pointers in a season.

Going into Saturday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Rockets have made 912 3-pointers with 20 games remaining, by far the most in league history through 62 games and just 65 from the NBA record the Warriors set last season.

"I was actually going to say something on Twitter, but decided not to, something like, 'Looks like we have to make 26 tonight,' " Rockets forward Sam Dekker said. "Props to them. That's an unbelievable shooting night. But we have even better shooting nights in us. If we really get hot, I think we can break that."

The Cavaliers made 25 of 46 3-pointers in Atlanta. The Rockets have made at least 20 in nine games this season, three more games with 20 3s than the rest of the NBA combined. They made 24 3-pointers Dec. 16 against the Pelicans.

"As long as we get rolling early, I think it's possible (to break the record,)" Rockets guard Eric Gordon said. "We're a 3-point shooting team. Breaking the record is very possible for us."

Not surprised the Cavs broke the record (again), what's crazy is they did it without Love and Smith.

I think Rockets get it back though, James just needs one of those nights where he goes 6/9 from deep instead of 1/9.

When the Rockets are pouring in 3's, they usually win pretty easily. The record will only fall during a close game.
