2011 Texans = 2008 Rockets. Eventually, injuries catch up. I hope I'm wrong and we get a good matchup in round 1.
All I want is one win and it's possible as long as we stay in 3rd. None of the possible 6 seeds are that good...
Because a 5th round rookie isn't a the same as a 6th year veteran, almost pro bowl level quarterback, who had a future HOF WR receiver to throw to instead a bunch of scrubs?
Uh, that's a bit misleading. The Pats ran out to a 31-3 lead on the Colts, then let Indianapolis get three meaningless fourth-quarter touchdowns (including the last with 30 seconds left) against a prevent defense to make the score appear close at 31-24.
Thinking the same thing driving in to work this morning! This team has been battered and bruised with all the injuries but there's no way to overcome the loss of Schaub. Yates played well at times but we're beginning to see the inexperience. I hope Kubiak sticks with him and I hope he can improve by learning from the past two games. Go TEXANS!!
Look at how many points this team has been averaging ever since Schaub has been hurt. Schaub is easily the most important player on this team which you can't lose.
Playoff caliber teams don't fall apart like that against such an inferior opponent. Wade being out the last 2 and losing the last 2 isn't a coincidence, but still it's unacceptable being that it's the same players and defense. Kubiak's play calling is to allow Yates to manage through games and put it on the defense to hold up which they haven't. I'll always watch the games and support but this team hasn't been the same since they finally clinched the division. We can hope it motivates them going into the playoffs, or it could have them fall apart and lose the confidence they once had. Either way Kubiak needs to open up the play book and throw down field which will help with AJ healthy. Defense needs to step up which will help with Wade coming back. K. Jackson needs to be benched which should have been done a year ago. I underestimated Brisiel, but Caldwell is garbage compared to him and that should help as well. So still some positives if these things do happen by the time playoffs roll around.
last year it was our defense.. this year our offense is going to be our downfall.. not sure if it's the playcalling, the qb play, the injuries, ghost of david carr, or all of the above... but it's not the defense this year thats holding us back.
I'm guessing you had an opposite take when we had that last minute drive against Cincinnati to make it 7 in a row, bandwaggoners need to GET OFF NOW!
My take is this: 1. The team has "mentally" checked out since winning the "championship." They overvalued that victory, and can't get their mental edge back. 2. Wade Phillips is some kind of defensive football god, they aren't as good without him calling the plays. 3. Kubiak is too conservative by nature, seems to shrink under game stress and his play calling becomes suspect. 4. T.J. Yates didn't lose the game last night, he played relatively well; a few mistakes but not many. 5. Why didn't the line block as well for Tate as Foster. 6. This team may well be done for the season: 10-6 7. The team has talent, this collapse is largely mental.
1. A letdown is expected, but we were lucky to win our last 3 games before this losing streak. We scored less than 21 points in EACH of those games. 2. The defense is still playing well, even without Wade. He's human, but a great D Coordinator. 3. Kubiak is a problem. He is seems to run two plays: running either the stretch, or fake stretch rollout pass seems to be his binary play calling issue. It gets predictable and is easy to stop with the lack of talent they have at skill positions with AJ out and Schaub out. 4. TJ did what he was told to do. Run the play called, don't audible under any circumstance, and take care of the football. You can't fault him - he did all of what was asked. 5. Tate barely played, and looked slow due to hammy issue 6. The team will probably finish 10-6, and lose in the first round if they don't change their offensive approach and score more than 20 points. 7. This isn' a collapse. FIVE games ago our offense stopped clicking. With AJ, Schaub and Leinart out it is to be expected to some degree. We don't have the talent at skill positions that we had, with the exception of Foster. AJ's return will only help if we open up the offense and get him the ball.
