Just tell us why including JJ is such an attraction for other teams? He was collecting unemployment benefit before be picked up by the Kings a couple of years ago. Prior to that, he was cut/released by half of the teams in the league. Why does he become such a valuable asset now?

Now back to the thread title.

We score a lot of points, the offense looked bettwe. Does anyone think that might have something to do with Mavs' defense? The Mavs average 98.8 at .436, while give up 95.8 at .419. Last night, both team scored 93 in regulation, but the Mavs shot at .481, the Rockets .410. Many people here were very excited after the loss to the Kings, and then we went a skid. So I'll hold my reservation until they can put a few good wins together.

Cheap contract. Good statistical production/price ratio. Contract doesn't run long.

His play for Houston last season, and this one, should have shown his value. He averaged more minutes last year than he has... ever?? I would think a lot of teams would like him on their bench. What they wouldn't want is what we'd try to package with him, which would be one of our awful 4's. JJ has a cheap contract as well. He has value.

Then why didn't teams fight to sign him when he was begging for a job at league's minimum? That sure would be even cheaper.

As of his "good statistical production/price ratio", have you thought about how much he plays? My problem with JJ is that he is supposed a bench player, contribute 15 to 20 minutes a game, not a starter takes away 40 minutes from the younger players we desperately need to develop. I'd be much happier if he produces half of the stats with half of the time. He played better for the Kings two years ago, but the Kings didn't even make an offer to keep him.

I think we are talking about the different things here. I don't have problem with a guy like JJ to be a bench player, contribute 15 to 20 minutes a game. I just don't like to see us start him & play him 40 minutes. That's a bad sign for us as a up & coming young team built towards the future. The fact is most of the teams in the league agree with my take.

Well, if I thought he was essential to our team's future, I wouldn't have said that he is tradable...

But this is JJ's 14th season and he's got a lot of wear and tear on him. He still posseses trade value but not for what this team really needs.

Exactly. Well said. Let's hope he learns from his mistakes.

Our "Coach" is friggin useless. He let the refs rake us over the coals several times without even saying a friggin word. He spends too damn much of his time dogging his own team...

I agree. I don't understand how a coach can sit there and let the refs abuse his players (more Yao than anyone) and just stand there and shake his head. How come he doesn't yell and stand up for his guys. Let his guys know he is behind them. Maybe that will ignite this team in a way. Go hang on the refs leg till he changes his mind or something...

Just one minor disagreement: Boki should have higher priority in this team, for I see more energy from him plus good 3pts shooting. I won't mind keeping JJ if he can stay with his restricted role and I totally hate the idea he should be the leader or something like this.

yep i could already hear the conversation on the plane ride to dallas..."hey t-mac...the fans in houston are really starting to ride my a$$ like rush hour traffic...if i give you the green light you think you could save my a$$ from being fired?" "ah coach, what do you mean by green light?" "pop it like it's hot bro, shoot it from the parking lot, take the ball away from your own teamates get yourself 30+ shots...you know like you did in Orlando." "hell yeah because you know jvg i'm the most selfish unselfish player in the whole damn league."

The sad thing is I kinda like the way they played last night. They lost but I never once turned the game off. Very entertaning.

I would say that it proves that it WAS JVG. The style changed and look how much more offense we produced. Yes we lost but only because of some no calls the refs missed and a fluke game by Dirk. We looked like a different team. We were running faster up the court and executing plays earlier and that is not how we have been doing. It is good that JVG is starting to adjust to players but he still is not the best fit for Houston.
