I dont think you can say that we arnt good enough to win without home court. For home court to matter the series has to go to 7 games and with the talent we have on this team, anything can happen. If Tmac catches fire and puts up 45 points, what is stoping this team from beating anybody? We are a very streaky, unpredicatable team that relies on 3's and jumpers. That will lead to 30 point wins against the Mavs and 30 point losses to the Raptors. I dont think we can even pretend to know how we will do in the playoffs, because anything from first round sweep to NBA Champions is attainable.
I agree- we will have a great deal of difficulty on the road in the playoffs -even if our players mesh well when Yao Returns- there are adjustments. Spurs are playing at a high level, Dallas is playing at a championship level -hopefully they peak too soon. Phoenix -with a healthy Nash will be extremely difficult to beat in a 7 game series. Utah and Los Angeles will both be well coached and will adapt well to anything we put out there. The level of competition has never been tougher. We really need home court to have a ghost of a chance. I really hope Yao and Mac can remain healthy through the rest of the season and playoffs-to make it a possibility they can both play at a very high level. Road wins in the playoffs will be contingent on getting solid, consistent contributions from the role players. Everyone will have to consistently play their 'A' game. This has not happened often.
If we beat Utah in the two games we have against them, we will have homecourt. I wish the last game of the season was not against the Jazz...
Back in 1995, two of our last three games were against the Jazz. We lost both of them. Then we played them in the 1st round of the playoffs and lost game 1. The rest is history.
Ok you are right. They are a little better than I thought. I was wrong. They ended up winning against NOK, after all. I missed that one. Oh well. They struggled against the Florida teams as expected. I think we still we have a chance to overtake them.
Both teams have schedules of equal difficulty for the rest of this month. But in April our schedules are nearly identical. Homecourt is well within reach, especially with a couple Florida losses.
Woohoo! Rockets win, again! We are only 3.5 games behind the Jazz with 17 games to go. We can take homecourt.
If the Jazz can lose at least one more game this road trip(likely the one in Cleveland) and the Rockets can lose only one more game the rest of this month(difficult, but possible), then we have a shot at catching them. I honestly think it'll require the Rockets to play that well though to make up 4 games in the loss column. Of course this is all predicated on the Rockets beating Utah in both of the remaining games they have with them this season.
Catching up to Utah and getting homecourt against them in the first round is very much a possibility. Yet, even if we do not I won't be all that worried. Homecourt is nice but it isn't gonna determine whether we beat Utah or not... and we're not gonna have homecourt against the big 3 no matter what we do. Also, saying we can't go all the way just because we don't have homecourt is ridiculous. This team can do anything, we are one of the true contenders, and if our team is healthy and clicking we'll be winning-homecourt or not.
who needs homecourt? not the rockets. they're typically doing better on the road. look at last season's record, they are the only team with more wins on the road than homecourt. remember the first two playoff games in dallas the season before last? yeah! that's what i'm talkin' about. they are going to win against jazz, homecourt or not!
It is definetely possible to catchup to Utah at #4. The Rockets not only have two games remaining against them, but Utah has about 5 back to back sets left as opposed to the Rocket's two. They have a tougher schedule with those back to back's, and if the Rocket's and put a win streak together they'll catch them. Either way I love our chances against Utah home or away.
it is a long shot but possible. 3 games stick out in my mind that will hurt...the loss to denver when the rox controlled most of the game. hawks loss and celtics loss.
I don't think this matters a lot we will make it through easily Utah is the best matchup we can get to win
Our schedule is ten times easier than the Jazz. They still have to play phoenix, dallas and san antonio. Not to mention us 2 times. Unless we have a monumental collapse we should overtake them easily
Jazz keep the losing streak going! They let a close one go to Philadelphia, a lottery-bound Iverson-less team. Their losing streak comes against 3 Leastern conference teams. If they can't maintain their record against the Eastern Conference teams, the homecourt advantage is all ours. The updated standings show our Rockets are only 2.5 games behind the Jazz now. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/standings;_ylt=AmMCaglvyiOQkzjut.HhXCK8vLYF
