What a pity to see him go. Orlando is once again an attractive place for players to go, so that means the Rockets have more competition for good players. Furthermore, I could see Dwight Howard and any other promising player look toward leaving as quickly as possible. Now.....oh, well.
The funny thing is that he's qutting the NBA to pursue a hockey job. That's like quitting Dell to be VP of Enron.
Totally, but with a full MLE, the return of Grant Hill, and the first pick in the Draft, you should be much improved. That's three potential starters, right there. Having a brusque and heavy-handed style can work in this league, but you've got to know the players. At the end of the day, you have to know that for all Mobley's craziness, he's still a much better defender than Christie is at this point. You can't trade two young bigs for one old one, and you can't go on record saying you are looking forward to the end of Hill/Cato/Chrstie's contracts -- when all three are on your roster. I got into Weisbrod in my column today, it'll probably be up later. I cut out a part comparing him to Rob Babcock. Babcock completely failed in his first year, but in spite of some alarming comments he made last month saying he didn't regret any moves, he gets a pass because he wasn't such a combatitve jerk about everything.
He had a good summer, especially when you consider that T-Mac was most likely gone no matter what (even before he and Weisbrod got into it last March/April). Only bad call was the Battie trade, and even so, moving Gooden wasn't a bad call (losing Varejo was). He f-ed up by going Cuban during the regular season, and sealed it with his mouth the entire year. Evan
Funny how Christie was a good player in Sac town. Yet when he got to Orlando he's a bad player. When will they learn? Look at the leadership on the court. Simple. I'll give it 2 more years. Brian Hill stays.
Please tell me you aren't blaming Christie's suckiness on anything other than that his best days are behind him.
I'm saying this. Bring any good role player into Orlando and watch him * suck.* If Mobley was so good, why was he traded? Guess he wasn't making the team better. Well, it wasn't his fault. It was your boy. Just wait. You'll see. If that team doesn't bring in defense, they will continue to lose. If they do bring in defense at the expense of offense. They'll suffer worse. If they bring in a player that plays both offense and defense just as good (who would that be?), that would be best. But that seems like Mobley to me. And even he couldn't right the ship. Francis has to either cut down his TO or improve his FG%. Something! But he can't just stagnate and expect his role players -- whomever you bring in -- to just cover-up his weaknesses. Jon Barry (7ppg) would suffer on that team just like Christie. But Jon flourishes on this team. Why? Could it be the court leadership of Tmac?
Actually, being extremely crappy landed them 1st pick. Being less than crappy doesnt get anything. The toughest spot to be in NBA is from 8 to 12 in each conference.
You can't name one player whose stats went up significantly after playing with Francis. Not even Yao Ming. So please back that b.s. claim. Please. I'm waiting.
I can't name one player whose stats went up? Huh? Did you mean to write that? I think you meant to say "didn't go up." Right? Your below statement actually sounded anti-Francis. Heh... "You can't name one player whose stats went up significantly after playing with Francis. Not even Yao Ming"
The nail in the coffin was trading Cat ~ if he hadn't pulled that bonehead move Orlando would have made the playoffs had Weisbrod would still have a job.
