Dude, all moves are gambles. No one knows how any transaction will pan out, unless you do something like sign Shaq to a free agent deal. CD and this dude got lucky to have the #1 pick. But they still made the right choice when plenty of folks were saying they should make another choice. Those were not "Shaq, Duncan, LeBron" drafts, where there was a clear cut #1 that you would be an idiot not to select. Howard had risks, which you seemed to identify. He took the risk and it worked. The same goes with Turk. Give the man his props....
Weisbrod was a horrible GM. He got LUCKY on the Howard thing. He talked **** about his superstar (at the time). He made that ridiculous Battie trade and that r****ded Christie trade.
