Probably no one cares but me and maybe Freak, but jic. The name does nothing for me.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland and former GUNS N' ROSES members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum have officially chosen VELVET REVOLVER as the name of their new band, the group's publicist, Arlett Vereecke, confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET Sunday (June 8).

The quintet, who announced Weiland as their lead singer Thursday (June 5), will shortly begin recording their debut album for an early 2004 release.

VELVET REVOLVER, which also includes ex-LOADED/WASTED YOUTH guitarist Dave Kushner, recently contributed a cover of PINK FLOYD's "Money" to the soundtrack of director F. Gary Gray's remake of the 1969 British crime comedy "The Italian Job". Meanwhile, an original song by the group, titled "Set Me Free", has been selected to appear in the upcoming film adaptation of "The Hulk" as well as on the accompanying soundtrack. The soundtrack, due on June 17, originally consisted only of the music score by Danny Elfman, but a deal struck two weeks ago will make "Set Me Free" the only vocal song to appear on the Decca/UMG CD.

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Who wants to bet this album never gets made, at least with Scott Weiland heading the band?

I thought the name of the band was going to be called "Reloaded"?

"Velvet Revolver" does nothing for me.

They should just call themselves "Roses N Guns" ;)

Velvet Revolver is a little weird, but most band names are pretty stupid. Stone Temple Pilots isn't exactly a moniker for the ages.

That said, I can't wait to hear these guys. I loved Guns n' Roses, but didn't care much for Axl Rose. I'm still a huge STP fan.

Interesting side topic: If you were starting a group, what would you call it? I always thought Freudian Motherchild was kinda funny. :D

Ya Drewdog I thought this was all off because he was shooting up again. I saw a little article about it in Rolling Stone.

I've heard their remake of Money and it's kick ass. Weiland takes some getting used to, but the licks Slash lays on that track is f*ckin' awesome.

To best names for a band I've ever seen!...next to the Dangeling Chads

I loved STP and Guns n Roses--My brother has that original GNR L.P. that came out with a demon "molesting" a young, naked virgin. :D They should cut a tract for T3 as well!

Wasn't Duff kicked out of GNR for...snicker.."To much drug use"?

I wouldn't be surprised if GNR has a track for T3. Arnold is a huge GNR fan and good friends with Axl.

Duff didn't get kicked out. It was Steven "Popcorn" Adler who got kicked out. He incidently has a new band out called Suki Jones but was recently changed to Adlers Appetite.

Barry: We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five.
