Excellent, easy way to tear away the pounds by barely breaking a sweat. Buy a cheap backpack and add plates to the backpack. It doesn't have to be much, I use a 25 pound plate. You can also walk with dumbbells in your hands. I use 12 pound dumbbells. Suddenly I'm 50 pounds heavier walking at a moderate pace. Great way to make your arms solid, especially for females. When your arms get tired, simply put the dumbbells in the water holsters on the treadmill. Don't forget to add incline!
Lots of cardio! I bet if you cut out all the snacks, desserts, and soft drinks, you will drop a lot of weight just from that.
30 pounds in one month is simply not a good idea.... I lost 30 lbs in about 10 weeks last year. Cut out sodas and sweets, eat in moderation (not so much of the fried food!) and tons of cardio. I worked out about 5 days a week, just doing inclined walking for about an hour each day I worked out. Much better on the knees, and I was able to watch tv and listen to tunes as I was on the treadmill. It was great to see immediate results. I lost 2 to 5 lbs every week I did this.
To the original poster. You sure you don't work out at the 24 Hour in North Beach SF? I've witnessed pretty much every inconsiderate act you described in your post. From the excessive phone use, to the super-setting at peak hours, to the douches trying to hit on girls in the weight room. As for the cardio and weights, I wish I had time for more cardio. There's about 2 days a week where I get home at a reasonable hour and have time to work out. I usually spend those days lifting. But I do walk home from work, which is like 2 miles. Hopefully when we move the clocks forward, the extra hour of daylight will allow for some outdoor running.
