The less earnest and sincere the better.

A rock and roll star for more than a decade is hard to keep hold of the same nerdy awkwardness and alienation among people that he once had.

I have no doubt there are still awkward things, and nerdiness about him, but it doesn't lie in him pretending to still be a guy who would never be accepted anyplace in Beverly Hills.

Kinda like how Trent Reznor said he would stop writing rock songs b/c he's old now and honestly not a miserable person anymore.

just listen to it, I like it a lot

Unspoken was the one track that stood out, but the rest is solid

refreshing to hear this after listening to the crapfest of the new Linkin Park album

I was thinking it was going to be:

As far as Weezer goes, there was no bigger =w= fan than me in the mid 90's. I was in their fan club (=w= #1248, I still have my card somewhere), I regularly emailed back and forth with Mykel And Carli, Karl the roadie, and even chatted with Matt Sharp a few times about the movie Kingpin.

I had all their B-sides and imports (this was before file sharing...I traded them via snail-mail with fellow fanclub members), I listened to all the side projects like The Special Goodness, Space Twins, The Rentals, live recordings from "Goat Punishment"...I can't even remember how many times I've seen them live. The 96 show at Liberty Lunch in Austin was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I mean, I was a serious SUPER-FAN.

They just kind of lost me during their long hiatus between Pinkerton and the Green Album. I had such high expectations for Green (after the long wait) and when it came out, it was just sort of....blah. Something was missing. Just an edge that was no longer there. I still can't decide whether it was Matt's influence or me just phasing out of them.

I still love the Blue Album. For my money, it was the best album of the decade and I still listen to it all the time. It just stands up to the test of time so well. I'll never get tired of it. Pinkerton too, although not quite as much.

It's weird, I still consider Pinkerton as their "new" album - much the same way I still consider 1984 as Van Halen's "new" album.

No. It's just that I've only seen one or two episodes of Lost, so I don't have the big hairy fat guy in my mind when I hear "Hurley".

I don't watch TV shows nowadays. They don't impress me.

in with the obligatory 'weezer isn't as good now'

Blue through Green were excellent records. I liked Maladroit too.

All in all the green album gets overlooked; now that one is a gem.

    The Best:

    Blue
    Pinkerton
    Green
    Maladroit

    So So:

Red (Greatest Man That Ever Lived was amazing)

    Horrid:

    Make Believe

    God Awful:

Raditude (I still cannot get over they made a track with Lil Wayne)

Maladroit was a throwback to the drug induced Pinkerton. A lot less emotion and coherence, but Rivers was on his game on that album.

    I love SLOB!

Weezer is on the new ATTN. I like the beginning with them in it but the middle isn't as catchy.
