Watching anyone trying to tackle shady is interesting

What's weird is all the top grades were average to above average

He does it well enough. I wouldn't him put him against the opponent's top receivers. Especially deep throws.

Agreed. He's a very good #2 corner. No disagreement there. I just disagree with "one of the best corners in the league". One of the best tacklers; I've always thought they should have tried switching him to safety.

While the grades are fun to talk about, you kind of have to take them with a grain of salt sometimes, at one point last year PFF gave Aaron Rodgers a mediocre grade in a game where he passed for over 300 yards with 4 or 5 TD passes.

I think most people's knock on Kareem is that he's not much of a ball hawk. He's good in coverage, but once that ball is in the air, it's likely a completion or pass interference.

Yeah, the way their grading works...if you had anything above an 80, you pretty much did very well. Rare to get 90 or higher...I think only 3 players graded out that high yesterday. If you can score above a 75, you had a good game...and 70-75 is average-ish.

Props to Newton with his 83. XSF with 41.4. :(

Yeah, but throwing a screen and having the receiver run 75 yards for a TD...the QB gets almost no credit there, rightfully so...but, on the stat sheet, the QB gets a completion, a TD, and 75 yards passing.

Their grading is pretty solid and representative of way more than looking at a stat sheet that says "300 yards and 4 TDs".

Sure, which is why we talk about it at all, but it's by no means perfect, they do make mistakes and rate players either lower or higher than they should very often. It's why it's only (or should be only) part of the discussion.

For example, which LB made the bigger impact yesterday. Player A who had 2 TFL's, 3 QB hits, and a sack with 3 solo tackles or player B who had 4 solo tackles 0 TFL's, 0 QB hits, and 0 sacks?

PFF would tell you player B was the better player.

So then pretty good game for the secodary outside Kareem.

XSF...smh. The rest of the line was good at least.

Still not getting much from the TE position.

Watt and Braxton also scored low, not surprising considering their situations.

Lamar Mill got rated low for rushing and receiving but high for blocking

It could very well be Player B...again, you cant go off of stats...if Player B needed to be blocked by 2 or 3 players, while opening up lanes for the rest of the defense, that impact is huge and doesnt show up on the stat sheet. And is player B someone that goes more into coverage than rushing the passer? All of that makes a difference in the stat sheet.

He went about 0-5 in tackles and didn't set the edge one time that game.

    He's a bench player.

LOL, no. That said, as I was typing they updated the numbers to be more accurate. Now they have it the way it should be.

With the updated PFF numbers Clowney and Mercilus are the #1 and #2 ranked edge rushers this week so far.

And of course as I type that, they update more numbers and Micheal Bennett becomes the top ranked

Either way, good to see them get the recognition they deserve, specially Clowney, who has gone through quite a bit.

Another interesting note is that Stephen Anderson got a run blocking grade of 75.9...while CJ got a run blocking grade of 69. Granted, CJ was involved in 26 running plays while Anderson was in 8...but I still wouldnt have expected that.
