Can someone shed some on light on why we still have Kareem Jackson? He's frustrating to watch since we've had him.

Am I not seeing his value to the team or what's the deal?

I haven't gone back and broken it down by just watching the receivers and looking at the coverages yet, but my guess is that that is exactly what they did yesterday.

In the first game of the season if you are the Bears defensive coordinator, would you gameplan your secondary around the Pro Bowler who had 111 catches last year, or the fast, but slightly erratic rookie who has never caught a pass in a regular season NFL game?

If I'm Vic Fangio, I worry about shutting down Hopkins, and see if the rookie can do it when it counts.

He's made dramatic improvement since 2010. He's a serviceable CB, so I'm not really sure what you're seeing that he's not contributing.

    Perfect complementary player to JJo.

Kareem is one of the best CB2's in the league.

You are blind if you don't see the value.

    Does everything well.

Kind of glad we didn't get him:

Ok. That's a stretch. He is good at keeping up with his assignments and is a very good tackler. Also good covering the slot but if he has to replace Joseph for a long period of time the Texans are in trouble.

Mancz was good yesterday. Pleasantly surprised with his performance against a very stout interior DL.

Guess I'm blind then lol. I only remember/see the negatives with Jackson. Guess I'll try to watch next game without bias

    So he does everything well....

He's probably one of the 30-45 top cb's in the league.

He also was rated the 13th best in the league in regards to QB rating when a ball was thrown his way in 2015.

Sorry for being harsh there. I'm a little grumpy today haha!

He is underrated. I supplied a link above that supports he's a very good corner.

There aren't too many teams that can loose their #1 corner and have the #2 step in with no problems and play like a #1.

Bears yesterday had to run with Tracy Porter as #1 and a UFA as the #2.

PFF ranks the Texans' CB's as #8 group in the league.

Look at some of the #2's on that list and think about how comfortable you'd be having them sub in as the #1.

Not to many outside of Denver, KC, SD, JAX and Arizona, though admittedly when you get down the list you start running into guys I've barely watched. But on the bottom half of that list there are a lot of #1's where I know I'd rather run with Jackson as my #1 and just run a bunch of Cover 2.

Kareem Jackson's biggest issue has always been deep speed, but the guy gets away with more stuff that would be called interference than and other CB I can think of. He's one of the more physical CB's around outside of some of the physical freaks.

The TE's got 6 catches on 7 targets for 53 yards....not too shabby. I would like to see them targeted more but there's only so many targets to go around.

No love for John Simon? Thought he had a pretty good game too.

Jackson is decent. He will make mistakes but he's kind of reliable nowadays. He's steady and that's all you can ask for.

    Per PFF:

Kareem Jackson graded out at a 70.3 yesterday (JJo was 79.1 and Kevin Johnson was 70.1).

To round out the secondary, Demps scored 72.1 and Hal scored 64.3.

Therefore, average to below average for our secondary outside JJo. Hal was the clear loser of the bunch.

I thought its a pretty common opinion that he is a valuable and productive CB2. He was horrible his rookie year and second year, but that was six years ago.

He's also fairly priced for his level of productivity. If he hit the free agent market today, someone would really overpay him.

I would still like to see Jackson on the boundary and KevJ in the slot. It would fit both of them so much better.

Dre Hal is what we thought we were getting with Ed Reed as a year rental.

He could have easily had two picks.

He's going to lead safety's in picks this year.

As long as he's not trying to tackle guys in space he's a good depth player.

Last year watching him try and tackle Lesean McCoy was interesting.

Not bad for a 7th round pick
