I dont think it's accurate to credit panthers with an elite defense this year. Their secondary looked really weak. Trevor played solid for his first ever meaningful snaps and was quick making decisions and using his eyes to manipulate the defense, but let's not act like the panthers secondary isn't looking like a huge liability for the panthers this year.

Hopefully Brock at least plays as well as Trevor did . Will be brutal if he can't.

Yeah it's at a point where I have to check the title of the thread to make sure I'm in the right place. It's pretty damn annoying.

Yep. It's at the point to where if it's a long post, by certain posters, I don't bother to read.

Had a dream we played horribly last night. It was 12-14 Texans with the Bears driving in the final minutes.

Really pissed cause my job scheduled a mandatory meeting at two... So I can only watch like the first half. Hopefully we'll be up a few TDs by then.

NFL Week 1 Predictions: Texans Struggle With Bears, Jets Upset Bengals

    Big Play
Chicago Bears at Houston Texans, 1 p.m. ET, Sunday

    Vegas: Texans -6; M/P Line: Texans -1.8

The Bears are the pick. Chicago opens the season with a higher ranking than the Texans in the model, though the Texans are still the favorite to win the game outright given the game being played in Houston.

The Bears and Jay Cutler have to face arguably the league’s best defensive player in end J.J. Watt, who missed all of training camp following back surgery but is expected to play. The Bears are also integrating two new starters on offense in running back Jeremy Langford and last year’s top pick receiver Kevin White, who missed the entire 2015 season.

But the Bears may be surprisingly stout on defense with a rebuilt front seven featuring five new players, including former Broncos inside linebacker Danny Trevathan. Despite this, major question marks still exist for Chicago in the secondary. But can new Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler capitalize? Osweiler now has a friendly target in ace wideout DeAndre Hopkins, but he was mediocre last year for the Broncos (7.2 yards per attempt, 86.4 passer rating). The uncertainty there makes this game more of a tossup than the Vegas line indicates.

All I wanted when he was drafted was to have a pair of great pass rushers on the same team. This year might be the only shot. Clowney is fragile as hell and Watt is on the decline. If they bring it together this one year then fall apart, I'm fine with that.

That was a strange take for sure.

You didn't know all great players peak at age 26 and decline after that.....

How old were reggie white and lawrence taylor when they peaked? 26 and 27. I like how sports diction is so sensitive simply saying "on the decline" means I am calling him garbage or even not the best defensive player in the NFL.

"At his peak" or "peaking" would have been more appropriate. "Decline" assumes you have seen him playing worse than he used to.

I don't think so. The way I said it makes perfect sense. My fear is this is the last year my dreams of seeing two monster pass rushers could possibly come to fruition. That dream has been dashed the last two years. Sports fans will argue over the subjective nuance of words for years.

I think the argument is about Watt being on decline. I don't think we've seen him decline yet and can't say "he's on the decline" until there's proof that he actually is.

For me, more specifically, I want to see more of the pass rush coming from the OLBs (as well as setting the edge on run plays) and the DLs holding down the middle and collapsing the pocket.
