There is no permanent solution at the PF spot in free agency. It's a bad year for PFs. The only valued PFs are stop gap PFs like Joe Smith, Mikki Moore and PJ Brown. Morey knows this. That's why Morey is looking for trades to solve this PF situation. Then use MLE FA money to fill holes created by said trade.
Exactly, just don't be suprised to also have junk like Malik Allen a part of the rotation next season...
Don't worry, I am half expecting it. That said, it's a long summer and a number of months before the trading deadline. A lot can happen.
I hope Landry is as good as Glen "Big Baby" Davis. He looks pretty good in his first summer league game for the Celtics. Big Baby might make that Ray Allan trade a good one for the Celts. 12 points 9 RB 2 blocks
Yetti, remember the "motto" of Rocket's management: "Always disappoint the fans! What do they know, they only pay our salaries?!" Therefore, I predict some mind-numbing, inconceivable, unlikely, totally brainless personnel action or nothing at all. When is the last time this board erupted in unspeakable joy? Well, that's too long!
I predict that the Rockets and their long-suffering fans will REGRET they passed on this guy TWICE. Mark it down. Draft blunder number 64, 243.
Which summer league game are you talking about. Its reported Davis played his 1st game against Portland with a line of 24min, 0-5 fgs, 6 rbs, 8 fouls, 3 assists, 2 TOs and 3 pts, pretty impressive. Also Nick Fazekas 1st game was 13min, 1-7fgs, 0-2 3pt, 2rbs, 4pts.
From what I've seen from Morey so far, he firmly believes that he's smarter than most (if not ALL) other NBA GM's. I pray there's even a hair of truth to that egotism. I'm still in the camp that believesMorey got dicked over on Draft night and had to scramble big time to come with plan D for Brooks. Sadly, to pass on Big Baby not once, but twice, especially given that the ROX potential for winning is NOW, not 5 years from now, but NOW.... well, that's all the "smarts" I needed to see right there!!! Following what I've seen so far, (and I'm not all that impressed with the Mike James trade either) the jury is out on anything of substance happening this summer. They just signed a muscular PF type to the Summer League team who is a little undersized but has big time athleticism (from what I hear). Like I said in previous thread, it sounds very much like they are working as hard as possible to spend the minimum amount of money on ALL of their off-season acquisitions, meaning money is trumping everything else. Remember Neither Landry or Newley (sp?) are guaranteed a dime. Morey will try to "outthink" the other GM's while promising to save Les a few nickels and will then wind up with little or nothing to show for it. Jerry West plays GM the way he played PG.... smooth and fast. There's a reason they wanted him back in L.A. Anyway, that's who Daryl should be comparing his moves to. Oh, and having just watched the Laker's summer league team, they should move up from 7th seed to at least 5th next year. ROX meanwhile....well, we'll see, but my optimism is fading.
Damn, it seems like Maurice William is going to sign with the Heats for MLE... I know we are loaded at the PG spot, but still, I am jealous...
