I still think Indiana might have the best offer in a sign and trade for Webber. I've never been there, but I don't think there is much night life that C-Webb has said that he wanted. But, out of the 4 teams or so in the running, they can probably offer the best players... INDY- O'neal, Bender, Harrington, Croshere; These guys have a lot of potential and would probably keep the Kings in the playoffs for a while. Croshere's contract helps even out salaries. ORLANDO- Outlaw, Armstrong, Doleac, etc; I just don't see it happening unless they give up Grant Hill, which Doc has said he is not going to do. NEW YORK- Houston, Camby; This is the only way they can get it done, and that wouldn't leave much talent to help out Webber. HOUSTON- Taylor, Cato, KT, Williams; Not much, but I think it's better than what Orlando has to offer. So, Indiana definitely can offer the best players while keeping their team intact. Houston still holds the advantage of being able to sign him outright though. What is more important to the Kings, cap room or a few raw talents ready to make an impact? ------------------ Now saw off...there's nothing to see here.
What I'd like to know is, granted Houston is able to sign Chris Webber, how much is it going to cost? Will the team still have enough to resign Hakeem Olajuwon and Shandon Anderson? If they can't resign these two, better to offer someone like Bo Outlaw than invest everything on Chris Webber. Chris Webber was on the Sacramento team that was swept by the LA Lakers. Getting just Webber won't do. ------------------
Exactly my thoughts. WEbber as good he is, is not a Kobe a Duncan or a Shaq as proven by Sac's 0-4 effort. IT seems that the BBS is growing with more non-Rock fans coming. BTW whatever happened to Blazer Girl and co? Can't get over the fact that their "team" was a failure? ------------------ "The man who goes alone can start today; but he who travels with another must wait till the other is ready." -HDT
Chris Webber was on the Sacramento team that was swept by the LA Lakers. Yes and Tim Duncan was on the SA team that got swept by the Lakers. Rasheed Wallace was on the Portland team that got swept by the Lakers. See a pattern here? Outlaw was on a Magic team that only took 1 game from Milwaukee and was out in the first round, but you're ok with him? ------------------
So you were impressed by Duncan's 0-4 effort? ------------------ All hail Fadeaway's Cyberfish -- your 2000-2001 BobFinn* Fantasy Basketball League Champions!
honestly i think alot of teams will be abused by webber before he finally makes a decision. i hope he ends up in houston but I have to admit I do feel sorry for alot of those teams that are begging for the fella and seem like they only gettin used. I think the rockets should really be lookin towards the draft right now and really try set themselves up in filling the gaps they need to fill webber will either come or not come but i really hope the rockets prepare themselves incase he doesn't. but honestly i really don't believe orlando's chances of getting webber is higher than ours in that webb has already stated that he loves our backcourt but has stated nothing as solid about grady and hill. we also have the cash and a better nightlife. i think once you've past 20+ constant visits to disney world gets boring. plus as others have stated without someone solid in the middle to hold shaq that bunch will get eaten up for lunch as much as fast as the other Laker victims. ------------------ "Wahooo"-homer I'm not only a fan but I'm also the bartender at clutchcity chat For the last time I'm not Tybrave!!!!!
Well, right after the Rox season ended, RT mentioned all the possibilities, the good chance of landing one of the prizes (now who could that be?) although the draft was looming first... We should be able to plug spots in the roster with the draft (center, small forward) so that we have young, athletic backups. Webber likes to run. Even after signing Webb to mucho $$$, we should have about 2.5 mil to sign Nate Huffman as back-up center. If worried about Moochie, we can make Webber's deal a sign-and-trade: #13 (power forward/center) and, say, KT or Collier. That would free up some $$$. ------------------
Gater - You make good points about the $$$ those guys are making. I am not salary/cap savvy, so appreciate your expertise !! However, my primary point is that I REALLY believe that Webb wants NYC, and to not totally hose Sac will be a S&T. I think there will be several back and forth offers/counter-offers between Sac and NYC and maybe a third team (da Bulls?) but eventually something will be worked out! I agree with your last statement, Raef to the Rockets!! -------------- Our purpose in life is to find our gift, and the meaning of life is to give it away! ------------------
By Star, I was talking allstar. Francis is not a allstar yet. I love his game but hes nowhere near McGrady or Hill. You can post this years records, we were really close to guys, and we didnt have Grant Hill all year long. A lot happens in one year. He went from 15pts to 27pts a game. He can play 4 postions for us, avg around 27pts, 8 boards, 4.5 assit, 1.7 steal, 1.7 block 45%fg. His playoff numbers what really impress people 34pts 8assits 5 boards in 4 games. T-mac is a top 5 player in this league. How good is the nightlife in Houston, Texas? ------------------
Grant Hill is a very good role player, but he is damaged goods and may never play the same caliber of basketball he used to. That being said, I wouldn't mind him on the Rockets if he passed a physical. ------------------ The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off
McGrady is good, but he was Orlando's only option last year. How many points do you think he will get sharing the ball with Grant Hill and Webber. If Webber does go to Orlando, look for McGrady's numbers to drop closer to less than 20 ppg. In regards to the nightlife, Houston's nightlife is much better than orlando's unless you consider Disney nightlife. I've been both places and compare to Houston, Orlando is downright rural. ------------------
