yes but in my original post i only claim that he would not make us any worse. so unless you can argue that iverson would hurt us, then we have nothing to argue about.
IT's funny how people think AI and SF are the same player. They could not be anymore different. AI attacks the rim, SF doesn't. AI can score away from the ball, SF has moved 2 inches away frmo the ball in his career. The fact that AI can operate running around picks away from the ball is why I'd give him a try. And why I think he is a better fit for any offense over SF. AI is also much better at creating.
that's a good analysis. that's why i think he wouldn't make us any worse. the problem is that he's just notoriously hard to deal with and being a true superstar i wonder if he'd defer to the JVG offensive philosophy.
Rasheed looks like he's having a lot of fun with Detroit, and that team is kicking A. The Pistons have some tough work ahead of them to keep all those guys, but they might have to work some sort of deal; can they keep Sheed and Okur? And what to do with Darko, who gets little if any PT? Plus they have Big Ben and, uh, what's-his-face at center...Elden Campbell. Detroit will work pretty hard to keep Rasheed. They'd be foolish otherwise. Since acquiring him they have just killed the competition. I'd love to get Rasheed. I just don't see that Detroit will give us the chance.
agree... he's a better fit there than with us. he can dominate eastern conference PF all day, every day. is he really driven enough for a tougher challenge?
What are YOU talking about. Are you saying that Allen "40 shots per game" Iverson is a team player?!?!?! ... the guy plays hard - granted, but he is breaking down physically and overpaid ...practice ? we're talkin' 'bout PRACTICE !
Lets be clear on this - I don't think either player is a perfect fit for the Rox... I just think A.I. is damaged goods
how about this........ Houston trades: SG Cuttino Mobley (15.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.3 apg in 40.4 minutes) PF Maurice Taylor (11.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.5 apg in 27.8 minutes) SF Scott Padgett (3.1 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.4 apg in 8.8 minutes) Houston receives: SG Anthony Peeler (5.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.6 apg in 18.5 minutes) PF Chris Webber (18.4 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 5.0 apg in 35.4 minutes) Change in team outlook: -5.9 ppg, -1.0 rpg, and +1.4 apg. Sacramento trades: SG Anthony Peeler (5.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.6 apg in 18.5 minutes) PF Chris Webber (18.4 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 5.0 apg in 35.4 minutes) Sacramento receives: SG Cuttino Mobley (15.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.3 apg in 76 games) PF Maurice Taylor (11.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.5 apg in 69 games) SF Scott Padgett (3.1 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.4 apg in 52 games) Change in team outlook: +5.9 ppg, +1.0 rpg, and -1.4 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and Sacramento being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Sacramento had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Sacramento gets some guys who can shoot and who fit their system. Houston gets Webber who will hit open jumpers when Yao is doubled and Peeler can hit the open 3.
Sheed and the Pistons have been playing awsome b-ball lately, especially on the defensive end. But you're right about their glut at PF- Sheed, Okur, Darko. I remember when the trade went down, that the Pistons were doing it to be able to re-sign Okur this offseason, but it looks like Sheed is a nice fit. I think Sheed would be a perfect complement to Yao and the Rockets. Sheed's offensive ability would have a field day w/ the attention Yao gets in the paint.
I'd rather have a lot of people other than C-Webb, but who cares? If that's the best option we can come up with - well we could and might do much worse. If we get the offer we burn up the phone lines with teams who have players we want most and without a firm bite we jump on this deal. Once every GM in the league realizes we're willing to talk about anyone (excepting Yao) we''l get offers, mostly horrendous I imagine. We're probably going to be forced to move quickly - that's what happens when 11 guys on your roster are available and word gets around. I just don't think we'll have deals left on the table for very long - this team needs too much overhaul. I agree it's risky, but we do that deal.
At first I was going to say HECK NO! But when I saw that it was just Mobley and Cato for Webber???? I think I "might" do it. The Rockets would still have to trade Francis, but Webber and Yao would be nice. I just don't really think Webber is the guy the Rockets need.
