I'm not tripping or anything, but when we played the kings, webber killed us. He went around slo-Mo and shot over too short thomas. Peja killed us too. I don't see it being any better without Jackson at the 4
I don't know what happened, but i know a soon as he became a free-agent, i would have offered Hakeem 2yrs 13mil, and then webber the max we could offer. Taylor, Anderson, Bullard, and Norris would have been secondary
I'm glad we didn't sign C-webb. That could have stunted the progress of Steve & Cat. The last thing we needed right now was someone like C-web coming here and carrying our team to a championship, while not allowing Stevie & Cat to mature more.
Webber would have Boned us any way. He wasnt serious, he was playing with the Kings. Nobody played along cause it was a joke. Now he's talking other teams, but note teams are not worried about where he wound up.
How would Webber stunt Steve's growth? Thats like saying Worthy stunted Magics growth. A scoere/rebounder could only help Francis. Webber is better than Mobley anyway. All said and done, we didn't get him and I still think we'll make the playoffs. I wish we had him and Dream, but we don't ,so.
Hey that doesn't apply to me. I never thought he was the greatest, and I never wanted him on the team. All he would have done was suck up cap space and kill our depth. Now he wants to call the Rockets out? That's fine. They'll be ready. And Webber on the Rockets don't make us a title contender because with Webber the Rockets are cashed strapped, so they don't have a proven SF and they don't have a bench with Webber. Webber has a big mouth, just because he's in a bad mood doesn't give him free reigns to tear into the Rockets, Magic, Spurs, Spurs management, David Robinson and Grant Hill. He should be worried about the Lakers. The problem is Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal will be better then Webber will ever be. And I'd have them on my team since they, you know, actually win big playoff games!
I believe 4Chuckie was joking... Anyhow, I never wanted the Rockets to go after Webber in the first place. We're building a team to try and compete in 3 or 4 years. Webber is entering his 9th season now, versus Francis entering his 3rd, Mobley his 4th, Taylor his 5th, Griffin his 1st and Marc Jackson his 2nd. Webber is considerably older than most of our key players (with the exception of Rice now) and wouldn't fit into the Rockets future plans. In 3 or 4 years when Francis, Mobley, Taylor, Griffin and Jackson are all in or around their primes, Webber will be in his 12th or 13th season. Had we gotten Webber, we wouldn't have signed Mo Taylor and probably wouldn't have gotten Jackson or Rice either. Yes, we could be a "contender" this season if we got Webber, but would still most likely lose to the Lakers. That is why getting Webber would have been useless and killed our cap space and depth. We would be like the Jazz getting far in the playoffs and then losing, when instead we are building to win in 3 or 4 years, by which time hopefully Shaq has retired or is not as dominant.
Webber is 28, a year older than Cat. We already had griffin. We could have had him in the mix with cat, steve and griffin. I think if the sac team could challenge the lakers with their nucleus, you don't think webber-francis-mobley nucleus would be good enough? I think so. Hopefully Griffin turns out to be a 20-10 power forward for us in 3yrs. Add jackson to that and I like our chances in 3 or 4 yrs as contenders. I mean serious contenders.
