No doubt! hope it comes thru and gives me some much needed water..adn then moves up to the hill country...Im headed that way the weekend of the 15th..and I want some good water for toobin! meant to ask you about that...how low was it when you were there?
The Guadalupe is OK right now but I almost crunched my legs on the rocks going over that little dam. Not as good as last year, but still not bad. It's flowing well, and you don't have to get out and walk or anything. On the other hand, it will get worse as time passes if we don't get some more water in there. Don't do the Frio, so I've heard. (most of y'all don't usually get that far out, unless you were already halfway out there like we are) It's pretty much dry and not moving. The Comal is always full of water. Really crowded though.
Thankfully Houston keeps getting further and further away from the predicted path of the storm. At this rate, we may only get a few showers.
Central Ohio has seen little to no rain in the past month. Everything is dying! I hope I get to feel the aftereffects of this tropical storm.
My bradford pears had leaves that were turning yellow, browning, and then falling off... I figured I was watering too much. I adjusted the automatic sprinklers to water less. Now I have 2 butt nekkid trees looking like they're in the dead of winter. All their leaves are in my neighbor's yard... I'm sure he loves me right about now... If the damn landscaping service that put the plants/landscape in when my house was being built had put in live oaks as I had requested, things would be so much easier... If you're gonna ask me what I want, then put the freakin' things I ask for in there!!! BTW, is it buck nekkid or butt nekkid? I always wondered... hmm... Oh yeah, and tropical storms/hurricanes... yeah, nasty stuff. Wish you guys luck.
Jeff though it's early in the season you are already in top form -- depressions with their roughly formed eyes are difficult to place -- also known as the 'T-Mac Phenomenon'... Perhaps here?
Before I saw the reports last night, I was telling my mom that I would be surprised if this storm didn't push further east. There is a big mass of high pressure pushing on us from the west and a ridge of unstable weather to the east. In some ways, from the things I've read, this could be another year similar to last in that we may see a lot of storms between Florida and Alabama in between high pressure and stability to the west and unstable air to the east. There's a storm headed into the Carribbean which bears watching if you live east of New Orleans. That will likely be our first hurricane of the season.
Call the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority, they control the release rate at Canyon Dam (along with the Corps of Engineers). (800) 413-4130 http://www.gbra.org/
yea..I checked the Corps of Engineers website already, and called ROcking R to ask how the river was lookin. evidently, they moderate the release volumes from Canyon Lake to keep the river at least flowing good enough for toobin..they say that 500 is the upper-limit of safe for family toobin...and it is right in the middle as of last week when I checked. I went ahead and got a room in San Marcos and will drive over to Gruene and take the long ride from up near first or second crossing..should be fun. ontopic....I still wish the damn tihng would stay close enough to give us some rain...my water bill is killing me from tryin to keep the garden and yard alive.
