It's funny reading about grown men becoming ecstatic at the possibility of snowfall.

On the topic of Cold + Snow.. Does anybody know a good place to buy some cheap firewood in the SW Area? Those little bundles at the grocery stores are a rip-off..

We'll get the last laugh in August when people up north are calling temps in the lower 90's a "heat wave." We call that a "cool front."

I have Weather Underground webpage bookmarked on my phone but I'm sure they have an app too. Weather Underground forecasts are the local NWS forecasts so I trust those the most. I have no idea where the Weather Channel get their forecasts; doubt they have a local meteorologist doing their forecasts. For cold weather they usually have the warmest forecasted temps.

It routinely gets into the 90s here in the summer. The difference, though, is most people don't have airconditioning, let alone central airconditioning.

I haven't gotten used to that. My place has 2 window units and no central air... one of which I did not have in the bedroom. BIG MISTAKE last summer... i was sweating balls every night and often just slept on the couch... won't make that mistake again this summer.

Many apartments have central air/heat as well. I've had two different 1-bedroom apartments in the city (walk-ups, not highrise), both with central air.

It happens in many more places than Houston.

You'll be laughing at our one week of 90s in the summer?

Well then what more do you want? A weather app that'll give you a reacharound or something?

Freaking nasty up here in DFW. You guys really don't want a taste of this. My internet and power keeps flashing on and off. Nasty.

Pretty much everything is shut down. 17 semis wrecked on I-35 today.

LOL, as a native Houstonian, I can't even wrap my mind around living a life without air conditioning.
