We have one in Texas every year, but this one is exceptionally large.

Has it even hit 100 in Houston this year? Only four more months until the cool returns.

My parents mentioned a terrible summer when I was a baby when they first moved to Houston and that chart points out that it was probably 1980.

Record Heat to Grip the Desert Southwest, Southern Plains; Searing Heat Wave to Return Later Next Week in Midwest, East

Some of the daily record highs that could be threatened this Sunday include Albuquerque (102 degrees), Las Vegas (114 degrees), Phoenix (115 degrees) and San Antonio (103 degrees).

These could be the hottest temperatures in Las Vegas, Phoenix and Tucson in three years.

America's hottest location, Death Valley, California, may soar to 125 degrees this weekend.

Dallas-Fort Worth and Oklahoma City could also see their first 100-degree days of 2020 over the weekend.

And with this heat persisting well into next week, Phoenix could sweat through one of their longest 110-degree-plus heat streaks on record
