Thats absolutely ridiculous if someone is getting mocked or ridiculed for wearing a classic Olajuwon jersey to a game. Anyone that does that isn't a true fan and doesn't know this teams roots. Last game I went to (Sad loss against the Hornets) I wore my Olajuwon jersey with pride and got several positive comments even one from a Hornets fan. I have tickets to this Saturday's Memphis game (which i'll be going to 2 hours early to ensure I get my Chuck Hayes bobble head) and I am debating on wearing either the Olajuwon, Olajuwon Dream Team, or my old Vernon Maxwell jersey. Only thing that would prevent me from wearing the classic '11' is I'd rather it not be confused as a Yao Ming jersey, despite how much I love the big fella.
Man.... Kam, did you hear this... people are going two hours early to get a Chuck bobblehead. I am thinking I should call in the big guns and see if Jason will pull one out for me! LOL
Dude, err sis. I got you. I work Saturday, and get off at 5. I'll be there at 5:15. It takes me 120 seconds to get to Toyota Center. And yeah, if the Jersey is up in the rafters or there is a monument dedicated to you, feel free to wear that Jersey 100 years from now.
2 hours is the norm HF, the doors open at 6pm, I lined up 30-45 mins before the doors opened for the KMart Bobblehead night and got it just fine. people should be laughing whoever wears the TMac #3 jersey, now those are some suckers......
I went to the game at Washington last year, had tickets right behind the Wizards bench and I wore my Ketchup and Mustard Hakeem jersey. Right after the anthem I felt some eyes on me. It was Sam Cassell and he had a big ass smile on his face just nodding at me. I looked at him and said, "Man I never wanted them to trade you!" The morale of the story is, always wear the Dream jersey.
I live in the UK so I've never been to a game, but if the Rockets play a game over here or i visit Houston to see a game, I'm rocking a '94 Olajuwon shirt and if anyone says anything I'm going to laugh in their face and tell them to get to know their history.
Anyone who would badmouth the wearing of an Olajuwon jersey is either not a fan, or probably too young to have seen him play. The under21 crowd may not think it's cool, but the rest of us do. I have the same jersey boxed up in my closet - too small to wear now
I might dust off my Cassell #10 jersey next time I go. Haven't even looked at it in years, it's buried in my closet somewhere. Probably doesn't even fit. 94-95 were the glory years.
monuments to carr. awesome. yeah, you can at least get a used ahmed green jersey or something. carr is something we kinda want to forget. i only want to remember one carr game and that is 19-10.
