We need a scorer. When T-Mac is injured that means that our only real scoring threat is Yao. He isn't going to play 48 minutes a night, so when he isn't on the floor, or having an off night we don't really have a go to guy. Last year we had a bad start because our leaders didn't know the best way to lead or whether Yao or Tracy was going to be the real leader. Once our leadership figured out what they were doing, then the role players started filling their respective roles very nicely. Our leaders know what is going on, and what they need to do, but Tracy isn't healthy right now, and we have some new role players to add to the mix. What we need is a player who could provide some instant offense for times like these. He should be play either at the 1, 2, or 3 spot, and be able to create his own shot, as well as hit the open jumper when the ball gets swung to him, or kicked out from the inside. Without the legit scorer on the floor the team looks lost, and they don't really play as a team. You have everyone on the floor thinking that maybe they should be the one to try and score all the points to make up for the people that are lost, and that seems to get into their mindset. Then they lose focus on defense and running a team offense.
Beyond Duncan and KG who else fits that PF mold? or that PG Mold If we looking for an ATHLETIC SWING MAN . . . why are we asking him to just entry pass and shoot 3s does that not kind of . . undermines his athleticism? Rocket River
James Jones can play the 2, 3, 4 spots but is primarily a 3. He has a better career 3pt% than DA. He would probably be the best defender on the team if he was acquired. Last season was practically his rookie season with playing time. He's been on fire for the Suns. This guy is going to breakout in a big way any moment as long the minutes come.
Man, I thought I could quote you completely, but I have to agree with the first statement and disagree with the second. I think our weakest area is point guard (and shooting guard) defense. If we could shut down a point guard, we wouldn't have as much to worry about in other parts of the game (other team scoring). The point runs the offense; shut him down, and you throw off the rest of the offense. I agree that a solid power forward would help, but we're managing without one. We really need defense at the guards.
