I can tell you, we WILL finish 2nd. At least it is VERY possible. We are way better thank Hornets or Spurs. And I don't really care what people say. The thing is, we are getting healthly. Spurs or NO may go down again...
Thanks, RR. I'm just tired of the negativity that's taken over this board. Aren't there enough threads out there that are skeptical of the team and the players already? This thread was supposed to be a rallying point for everyone, and instead, it's just met with the same "woe-is-me....the Rockets don't stand a chance" attitude as the other threads. The fact of the matter is, this team: - has played over 95% of it's games with at least (usually more) 1 of it's 6 best players OUT - has played a decisively heavy road schedule - has played more back-to-backs than any other team in the NBA - has played one of the toughest schedules in the NBA Given all that, we are STILL primed for home court in the West, and we are still only 2 games back of the second spot.....yet, most posters on this board ignore all that evidence, and instead point to the fact that we are not healthy, and therefore will NEVER be healthy. Patience is something that every player, coach, and general manager has to demonstrate....yet it's something that fans don't have. Usually, I can understand where frustration as a fan sets in, but this season, I just don't see where the impatience is coming from. With T-Mac as an individual, I can definitely see where fans have kind of drawn a line in the sand, but with the Rockets as a team, I have no idea where some of you are getting your beef. This team has put up with more setbacks and distractions than any other team in the league, and yet they're still 27-16, and have beaten the best teams. Let's give them a break, and support them the way I know we all can.
Talk to me about high seeding when we start beating bad teams consistently and convincingly. 0/2 against the Pacers ... one horrible loss to the 76ers ... one horrible loss to the Raptors ... the Grizz ... the list goes on. The Rockets have looked good against the Nets and a couple of other teams but that's it. I will agree, however, that we have played the better teams of the league well (except for one game against the Lakers).
Oops, add the Knicks and make that 0/2 to the 76ers. Yup, we *really* look like a 2nd seed. The Hornets and Spurs are really shaking in their boots.
Seriously, how can we even begin to say we are a 2nd seed when we have shown no consistency whatsoever? None. In case some of you haven't noticed, more than half of the regular season has gone by. Some of you guys really need a reality check.
We wont make it to the playoffs, and if we did by some miracle, all the other 8 teams contesting for a spot can pwn us in a series. Its not like you guys never seen it before. When Mcgrady is most needed he is playing like crap. I remember when so many people here though we would win utah last year, and I lolled at the 0-2 at home. Mcgrady is an epic failure.
Remember last year? Every team wanted us in the first round. It'll be the same this year if by fluke we make the playoffs. In order for that to happen, we'll need some other team to have a massive breakdown ... more massive than ours.
"Also Wafer is nice but he does not belong in the top 9" You were wrong. Good to see you are man enough to bump a thread you were wrong in.
The Spurs know how to execute down the stretch and are a good defensive ball club as well with a lot of experience. We haven't done well on the road. Even if we win this game,we are not good enough to sustain ourselves at a very high level. The absence of Landry is hurting us as well.
Well when the thread was made I was thinking a healthy T-Mac was going to be a large factor but look where we are today 40% of the starting lineup is different I don't care if I was right or wrong about anything as long as we get this 2nd seed I always liked Wafer I just think Barry brings so much to the table that he should be getting time no matter what
I think right now we have about a 30% chance at the number 2 seed.....it will all depend on these next two games..... If the Rockets can get them both, or at least one...they might pull it off...but if they lose to both Utah and San Antonio, I think they end up 4th or 5th. These next 2 games are the tipping point. DD
The Rockets are only 2 games ahead of the 7th seed, and they have one of (if not the most) hardest schedules remaining. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they get home court advantage.
How are Scola, Landry, Lowry, Brooks, Wafer scrubs? Or do you just hate your team so much you choose not to recognize its talents?
Every since McGrady went out, we've been consistently winning. If this doesn't qualify as consistency in your book, god knows what book it is. And northeast fan is arguably the biggest hater on this board, so don't take too much pride in siding with him.
