Sorry but the Brad Miller comparisons fail. He was COMPLIMENTARY piece in a offense that had 3-4 weapons that were better than him. Of course he is going to be effective when everyone around him is so much better and pull doubling teams all the time. What has Brad Miller done since the collapse of the Kings? Zip. The guy is only effective if the guys around him are better than him. He was a parasite living off of Webber, Bibby and Peja.

Of being a Yao Ming only fan.

They should feel bad about that.

I'm an YOF, Young (Vince) only fan. Hook'em, luv'em blue, Texan will not win more than 8 games rest of this decade (ending 2010 so within next 3 seasons). The city should've built Bud the stadium when they had the chance.

He can decide how he feels about it. I don't think you can advise someone whether he should feel bad about something or not. No offense, but I don't believe he really cares what you want him to feel.

Oh yeah? Then why'd he post in the thread? Cause he got defensive. Let me tell you something bud. I have a YOF telling me that i'm going to stop being a Rocket fan since '84 because Gundy's out, I don't play that game dog. If he wants to have a bamboo stick fight, then i'm in, cause I squash gutless haters like him for a living.

come on you guys all have good basketball IQ...

Yao was on Boozer... because JVG wanted him in the paint not only to cover Boozer... but other guys like anyone with a heart beat getting past half our other players...

JVG did some great stuff this year...

    but he showed his inflexability...

in mostly running his attack the ball defense... instead of mixing in more zone defenses...

somthing that would have kept Yao in the middle... gave him help on Boozer...

and let them keep firing those 3 pointers they were missing atleast in the beggining of the series...

I cant blame Yao on his defense of Boozer... that was a miss match... im thinking JVG was under the mind set to allow Boozer his 30 but shut everyone else down....

but I will Blame Yao for getting owned by Okur on the offensive end...

I always say... if the Ref's are giving you ticky tack fouls... allowing players to bump you on your jump shot... or flopping...

you play even more aggressive... and foul out if you have too...

id rather see a player fouled out... then... playing like a pansy...

I applaude you for talking tough here. Next time when I see other teams' idiotic fans say Tmac or Yao is soft again, I will tell them at least we have Rockets fans like you who talk a tough game on this board here. Go Rockets.

This guy should interview for the Rocket's head coaching position...

If only Jeff read this board and "mixed in more zone" against one of the best shooting teams in the NBA, I'm sure we would have advanced.

If zone in the NBA is so good, why don't most teams employ it all the time? Utah zoned us because we have players on the court with 2-ft range (Hayes) and 0-ft range (Alston).

With zone, we would have been destroyed by 20!

^ they werent shooting so hot in most games anyways...were they?

where we got killed was on the inside

I thought JVG's whole defensive scheme is to take away the paint... well he failed to do so...

as the series heated up they started to shoot better... from the outside...

so maybe he could have switched it up for a half or 10 possesions....

    when Utah started to adjust...

so you are saying I have to be the coach of the Rox for my post to have merit...

I could say the same for you....

also im just pointing out... we had a chance when Utah was still shooting poorly from 15 feet out in games 3 and 4... to shut down the inside play and dare them to kill us from the outside...

win one of those games we would have been up 3 to 1

and thats just basic basketball... dont have to be a coach to understand that...

    unless your a dumbass...

My opinion is that Jeff Van Gundy knows a lot more than you. Just about every person associated with the game says he's one of the most knowledgable. I trust that if he didn't go with it, it's because it would have made things worse.

If I had a milli-penny for every wannabe coach...

and ive made millions upon millions of pennies from guys who think like you...

your probably one of those guys who still thinks were winning the war in Iraq....

    mission accomplished...!!!

if you watch the defense we play... most times there is a guy left open anyways...

or our guys are still one or two steps away at full charge... before the guy launches the ball...

so we just run around for 15 to 20 seconds attacking the ball...just to give them a good look at the basket...

Just because you have an opinion your a wannabe coach? Why does everyone feel the need to attack someone else's opinion? I like reading the different POV's and believe some posters on here are very knowledgeable and I enjoy their insight.

I think JVG was let go because he was too tight with his rotations, sacrificing win's today over development tomorrow. His offensive sets were unimaginitive either throw it into Yao or let TMac create for someone else. Thats lame.

I think JVG is a great defensive coach but unless im mistaken BB games are won when one team "outscores" the other.
