But that's the point. Francis DOESNT help us win, otherwise Adelman would've played him by now. If he turns into J-Kidd overnight and becomes a better option than Rafer, i'm all for it, but this is reality, and reality is Francis doesn't help us right now. Stop complaining when we're WINNING.

Well I was one of the one to chant for Steve just cause it was his homecoming and I enjoyed the years he gave us, but I do think he has to earn his way into the rotation, and I much rather have an Aaron Brooks chant but oh well.

I was watching Steve at the end of the game, he never really cheered for the Rockets, and didn't get up to high five team mates during the timeout and then he kind of just hung out in his chair, not much emotion, seemed a little like he was bummed out though.

At first I thought for sure coach RA would let Stevie in the first five just to please the crowd, then just substitute MJ or RA after 2 - 3 mins. Even if Rox were up by 22 in the second quarter, he still didn't send him in.
Majority of the fans present wanted to see Francis, coach RA should have at least sent him in to bow to the crowd to get it over with

So . . .we b*tch because the fans were 'passive' and 'in the club section'
    now
they are b*tching cause they into it. . but not the way we want them too

perhaps we should write a memo
and write out the parameters of what a 'true' fan is
    and 'how to act'
and 'when to act that way'

    or
we can just let fans be fans in their own way

Take a look in the mirror buddy. Stop over-reacting to posts about Steve. You also need to stop with your female tendencies references that you've repeatedly used to degrade a poster for his/her opinion. It's unnecessary and it's insensitive to the females on this board. You chastise The Real Shady for coming to the conclusion that Steve was pouting via TV and in the same post you say "dude didn't look like he was pouting at all." Using your logic against you, how did you manage to read Steve through a TV Screen?

How about getting some observations on Steve from those that actually attended the game? Live observations are better than anything seen a few seconds on TV.

sounds good, whos up for throwing a bottle at Josh Howard when his chilling on the scorer's table?

    Just Kidding.

The forum is here so people can b**** about anything (Rafer, JVG, whatever). I'm pretty sure the conduct of fans are a subject to b****ing. Theres no written rule on how a fan should behave, afterall there is no such thing as a "professional fan". Chanting Stevie's name was all in good intention and good fun, but logically it was silly and made us fans look like we did not want the win, hence there will be more uptight fans feeling ashamed, hence there will be criticism. Being a fan, we can act the way we want as long as we abide by the rules of the arena. There are many different types of fans, theres the die-hard ones, the analytical uptight ones, the YOF, the SOF or a combination of those. Some fans just don't like their identity to be associated with those fans that act differently because of different beliefs.

Chanting a player out of the rotation to play when the win was not clear yet was disrespectful towards the other team and somewhat a distraction to the coaches and players of Rockets. Yes we fans can have all some fun, but it doesn't hurt to show some class. I believe most of the fans were just socially conforming so really I don't think its a big deal unless it goes on every single game from now on. And yes if it happens in a tight game, I will be annoyed.

Personally, as long as no fan(s) causes an uproar or melee, I totally agree with what you posted. There is no clear rule on how a fan should behave, all fans have different beliefs, different levels of education and culture, hence there will be disagreement and b****ing going around the acts of fan(s) and players alike. The forum gives us an opportunity to have these b****ing and arguments heard.

    fixed ->

we weren't serious about the game on-hand and a possible comeback from the opposition team. (disrespectful) and it also makes Stevie feel stupid and the coaches think "silly fans" and the players think "chant for me instead!"

That's exactly my point. Even with people that are there Live, we don't really know whats going unless we are on the team or know Steve personally. I only said "he didn't look like he was pouting through tv" to make a point. All we know is what is shown on the TV screen. We can only speculate as to what goes on off the court and away from cameras.

Oh and sorry, If I want to call out a poster on his female tendencies, I can. This is a internet forum, I am free to express my opinions without having to worry about offending anyone. Free speech remember? Besides, I've seen far worse offending comments on this board. Far worse.

Of course anybody can do say anything. That's not the point. They can call someone the N word, they can be an ass, or they call people names because their opinion differs but should they?

And you don't need to be part of the team to see how Steve is acting on the bench to adversity. I know I will be taking a peek at the bench during timeouts on Tuesday.

steve is a legitimate nba player. he put up comparable number to rafer last year, and to say it is stupid to consider playing him is well stupid.

steve's strength is his abilty to finish, which is something rafer struggles with. when rafer is on, everything is fine, but he is too streaky to be counted on. why do teams leave rafer open and inivite him to shoot? why does the offense explode when james enters the game? steve can definitely finish and his heart is unquestionable.

whether he plays or not is the coaches decision, but fans have a right to voice their opinions.

the guy is a former all star, who use to be the man. and now he doesnt even get to play. who's ego wouldnt that a hit. i would be more concerned if he wasn't upset, that would mean he didnt give a ****.

i don't know why some of y'all hate on steve. not once has he done anything disruptive since knowing he's not in the rotation. the last 2 games he has been on the bench being fairly supportive.

as long as he's patient and keeps working, we should be supportive. though he didn't win us anything, he played w/ a tremendous amount of heart when he was here. he still does. he has pride, who doesn't?

it's great houston still supports steve. hopefully, hes not gonna be down on himself or the team. just keep pluggin'. it's only a matter of time b4 rafer is out. dude can't shoot for jack. i can't believe someone in the NBA can't suck that much at shooting wide open Js or finish around the rim.

    Well stated.
I still can't believe Rafer freakin' Alston is our starter at point. It's like a bad dream.
Francis avg'd over 20 PPG in his last 4 starts w/the Knicks. Alston? Single digits.

    steve deserves PT.

not on this team though. he was beat out by about 5 guys (tmac, rafer, bonzi, james, luther).

on another team that isn't as stacked in the backcourt, he would definitely be a rotation guy. i'd bet he finishes the season elsewhere.

The chant was neat to see - just sparked all over the arena like fires in a dry forest.

I wanted to see if they'd opn the game up enough that he'd come in - I was most interested to see the crowd's ovation for him.

It's nice to see how much love the city as for him - huge amounts of people are dying to see the prodigal son return. Problem is, they want the 2001 elite talent Steve to show up - and he's a shell of that guy today.

I'd love to see Steve get himself back to the All-Star level he was once at, but the onus is on him. Until that happens, we're going to have to just wait for a 30-point blowout to see him.

Also adding this in - he was perhaps the least supportive team guy on the bench. He was chatting with guys sitting with him, gave pound to guys coming out of the game, but he stayed planted every timeout (while even streetclothed Novak, Brooks, and Landry were up and in the huddle) and generally just didn't show any interest.

    Evan
