Yes we have played poorly down the stretch, but this is such a ridiculous exaggeration. We don't have THAT much talent. It's not like another coach would have had us a top 4 seed and favored to advance to the 2nd round. Sure there are other coaches that could be successful, and sure McHale has made mistakes. He is also coaching with an extremely young team that is going to make mistakes regardless of the coach. You think he asked Harden to shoot 8-25 or for Lin to shoot 4-14? Do you think the team executed the way McHale wanted them to? With a read and react offense alot of the burden is on the players to make the right read and reaction. When they do, you have one of the best scoring teams in the league. When they don't, it can get ugly. Perhaps another coaches system would work better, but there is no guarantee that the team would execute it any better. Either way we are still more limited by our talent than our coaching as far as being realistic contenders this season.

agreed. tho with the star caliber coach, if you look at a lot of the better coaches in the league, spoelstra, thibodeau, vogel and brooks (to a lesser degree), they were all no-name assistants until they got their shot.

maybe finch is the guy? maybe someone else, but i'd like to see morey do the norm and think outside the box on this one.

    Here is what I envision:

Phil is the GM and coach zen master. What does this mean you ask?

McHale does everything Phil tells him to do (via iPad). Triangle offense, etc.

Once playoffs hits, McHale takes his role on the bench and Phil takes over in person.

That way, Phil doesn't have to travel, because he doesn't want to, and what he says go.

Not going to happen. We don't have enough talent on this squad to inspire Philly Blunt to come. We have no true superstars. We have an all-star player that's been sucking for the second half of the season. I'm not even sure he'll make it to the all-star ballot next year the way he's playing

McHale has two more years left on his contract, but the last one is a team option.

It'll be interesting to see what we will do in the offseason of 2014. The Houston Rockets rarely fire coaches. Jeff Van Gundy and Rick Adelman were not fired; their contracts were just not renewed.

Personally, I think history will repeat itself. McHale will remain the coach for the coming season. Then in the 2014 offseason, his option will not be picked up, and another coach will come a long.

I think we should hire stephon marbury, a proven champion and consummate professional, as our head coach.

Numbers don't lie - sometimes, I'd rather be "lucky" than "smart".

We need a HOF coach. No more 'experimenting'. Years will pass by and we would still be wondering. We have all the right pieces, but they are not being utilized properly.

We need maybe one more big, keep asik, move him to the PF and get Dwight, if that's even possible (very doubtful).

I'm sorry but you give a ton of coaches out there the talent he had to work with and they would have eleven rings too...

    Cliff note:

Only coach teams with at least two more elite players*.

*Not just any elite players, but players that will be classified as top players of all time.

Oh please. Why isn't his predecessors not winning?

Every team or coach can win game, but only great players with great coach can win championship.

Do you even watch the game? McHale has no system. When Q4 come, ISO Harden all the way. Whoever bring the ball to half court, pass it to Harden, go camp in the corner and wait. It doesn't matter if Lin, Beveley, Parson or Defino, they carry the ball to half court and then handed over to Harden.

If that sound like a great system and fun basketball to you, I rest my case. I don't know how other players feel about playing in this system, it depress me if I play in such system.

I think some people underestimate the value of a good coach. Heck anyone can coach a D1 college team to win against a high school team. However, overall the NBA is pretty level in terms of talent....you might have a team with one or two players that are just out of this world. When the field is flat lined good coaching does go a long way.
